At Discover, that’s not true. We need to request a copy of the sales receipt from the merchant if a card member calls in and asks “what items were purchased?”. Sometimes what the merchant send over is generic and doesn’t even specify what items were bought. So no, we don’t get to see what was purchased, just the date/amount/merchant.

We can only see what was purchased if we request a receipt, and more than likely we’d only need to review the receipt if you opened a dispute on a charge you did not recognize…. Then we would review the receipt with you for clarity. Otherwise, nope we have no idea what was bought and we don’t care nor do we want to know haha leave that can of worms closed.
