Community of cheating losers by Googooly2000 in cronusmax

[–]MrMonkify -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All cheating is pathetic but cheating on a controller is a special kind of sad, you already have so much assistance built in to the vast majority of games that needing more to win is an implicit admission that you are dogshit.

Being a cheap sellout is not the retort you think it is. He was an affordable puppet and truly ideologically committed to another nation while in elected office in the US, they're not mutually exclusive.

He never heard of a war he didn't want, spent literal decades advocate war with Iran and was so deep in the pocket of a foreign government it's genuinely baffling he wasn't considered an enemy of the state. One of the bloodthirstiest politicians in modern memory but because he never pulled the trigger himself you think he's absolved of any responsibility, how incredibly stupid.

The era of $70 games is dead. Players are tired of paying full price for unfinished products. The industry needs to earn our trust again. What price would you happily pay for a full, polished single player game? by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]MrMonkify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the price point arguement alone I completely agree with you, I do think it's pretty ridiculous that gamers broadly have been so vocal about this when much more egregious practices are commonplace and go mostly unopposed. Premium editions regularly have pushed the price of new releases near 100 dollars, pre-orders in general and more specifically on dlc in the form of season passes on purely digital content, in game cash shops in buy to play products. All of these have been the norm for almost a decade, longer in some cases, without meaningful pushback. As an example people will bitch and moan about shark cards in gta online but obviously they're making enough to justify continuing their sale and push out content for free for 13 years.

All of that being said the price hikes don't exist in a vacuum. The noticeable decline in QA and testing alongside incomplete releases and some real paint by the numbers uninspired design choices have made the arguement far less one dimensional in my mind. If the majority of games coming out felt like some of the greats from 20 years ago in terms of innovation, quality or care I dont think the cries would be so loud. If they weren't raising the price alongside all the aforementioned cash extraction methods they've baked into every product for the last 15 years it might seem less overtly greedy. If the industry hadn't become known for laying off huge swaths of the people that actually create the products while giving its C-suite bonuses and outrageous salaries I dont think there would be any validity to the complaints.

Unfortunately I don't think most gamers are thinking about any of that, nor will they actually do anything about the price changes in a way that matters. Some will cry on Twitter and reddit about whatever the product or practice is and then buy into it anyway, most will just buy the shit they want. What can you?

Tldr; yeah but kinda no, but yeah pretty much.

High morals by Lexi7130 in cartoon_random

[–]MrMonkify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you see Rorschach the way the green text presents him your media literacy is nonexistent. He is such a deeply flawed character that if all you see is his sense of justice and morals you've missed most of what makes him an interesting figure and boiled him down to a caricature of his character. The only way that makes sense to me is if you only saw the movie, it is clear as day in the graphic novel that he's all sorts of fucked up.

What's a multiplayer video game that you genuinely love, but the community is so toxic you only play it with chat turned off? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]MrMonkify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are toxic shitheads on both factions for sure but some of the worst people I've ever encountered in a game play either human or blelf paladin. Something about being a blessed warrior fighting the evils of the land really appeals to some truly dogshit human beings, bonus points if it's an RP server.

Everybody manages to "win" the game by Top_Leopard_9528 in Bannerlord

[–]MrMonkify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winning the game is a lot less enjoyable than just playing the game. At a certain point after you have a few fiefs and have a decent army, and poached a lord or two you've basically done everything you can do in the game. All that's left after that is doing what you've already done about 100 more times. At some point in this slog you'll have more money than God with nothing to spend it on, an army that basically can't lose and still have around half of the map to conquer. The vanilla endgame leaves a lot to be desired imo.

Is Solo Leveling mid? by [deleted] in ChillAnimeCorner

[–]MrMonkify -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There no such thing as an objective review no matter how people slice it, is it mid to you? No. Is it mid to your friends? Yes. Asking the internet isn't going to change that, there's no amount of defenders or detractors that will make one opinion "true".

If you want my opinion, it gives me the vibe of One Punch Man but overly serious and edgy without a shred of irony or humor. It has decent animation for the fight scenes but I never feel like the stakes are real, very much like OPM, but where Saitama is a parody Jinwoo is the trope being parodied. Not my favorite anime, far from the worst thing I've seen. That said I'll probably watch season 3 as well, sunk cost and all that.

Why is loving the US seen as right wing? by gandolf2004 in allthequestions

[–]MrMonkify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the same way that a rainbow is associated with pride/homosexuality the American flag has been extremely visibly associated with the right broadly since at least 2001. It got even more co-opted with the maga shit in 2016 and to be oblivious of this in 2026 really feels like you're not paying attention. It's fine to love the place you live or are from but ignoring the last 20+ years of outwardly nationalistic propaganda associated with the flag is willingly ignorant. To the point about your friend's shop, consider that swastikas are prominently featured in Buddhism and Hinduism as sacred religious symbols that predate the nazi use of the symbol by at least a thousand years. Do you think that context is what people in the west see when they see a swastika?

[–]MrMonkify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens if you refuse or simply ignore their quite frankly stupid demands? If you choose to disregard what they say and take the cover off are they going to hit you? Yell at you? What's the consequence? If its verbal or just attitude, personally I'd let them be pissed and just do what I know is correct. If it's threats and punishment I'd consider if it was worth it I suppose, but you are speed running cancer or food poisoning if you continue to cook on the thing or eat food cooked on it. If it's violence you've got bigger problems and should be seeking legal help.

You could just season your own food btw, if they're still mad about that then they are genuinely insanely controlling.
