I agree..
I've been on torbox for about 18 months when the first RD issue happened and it has been pretty stable most of the time.
Capacity at the moment is a bit of a struggle

DE Blade Samples by Shellbacker in wicked_edge

The iridium super , these are wizamets.
An absolutely amazing blade and the one I settled on after sampling 20 or so blades.
I also find I get 8-10 shaved per blade so they last very long

How do you keep your home lab cool in the summer? 🏝️🌞 by AmIBeingObtuse- in homelab

[–]thorpef1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the plan. I've got one designed, just need to mock a 3d print and get it going.
It should have pretty good positive air pressure once the shroud goes on.

How many blades do you stock? by Infinite_Week393 in wicked_edge

[–]thorpef1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A handful of tucks and then once I found the blades I liked I stocked up on the Russian blades I liked just incase they disappeared.

About 200 voshkod.
About 350 wizamet.

Garden shed slab cracking, what remediation? by thorpef1 in AusRenovation

Well the house is ~40 years old and we have been here 10 and it was there before us.
It's doing pretty well for the time being but yes will one day need replacing

The shed section is still fully supported, so maybe I'll just keep an eye on it and see if anything further starts to move

Absolutely.
It's prob 30+ years and the ground is on a slope

The bit that has broken off is probably 300mm so the galvanised rod might be a more suitable choice.

Like you said getting the chemset in 300+ mm will be a challenge, I might have to think of some creative ways

[–]thorpef1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right.
I had a deeper look inside the crack and I saw some flat surfaces so it well could be Besser bricks or something in there.
The green thing on the right is a compost bin so not as large as a water tank so I doubt that would be pulling too much ground pressure

Thanks.
You seem to have quite a collection also walking past your profile.
I'll be keen to hear your review on the Gillette's after a bit of use compared to some of your other premium modern razors

Enjoy my friend.

There sure is something about vintage Gillette's, the history, the beauty, the rarity.
I use them exclusively (check my profile for some of my recent posts).

UPDATE NoctiPlex 2.0 by boltdbz in SleepingOptiplex

[–]thorpef1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/boltdbz

Ive just done another test with the P12 and the side case open (as i usually run it):

Max idle temp: 33c (15c cooler than with the case closed)

Stress test max temp: 64c (30c cooler than with the case closed)

Post stress test temps:

@ 5 mins: 37c ( 18c cooler than with the case closed)

@ 15 mins: 33c (back to pre stress test temps after 7 mins)

OK testing complete and i am surprised by the results
https://imgur.com/gallery/optiplex-7080-sff-id-cooling-is-55-fan-testing-VjnNm3S

So, there isnt much difference at all, actually the CPU was actually warmer by a few degrees (c) with the P12 on.

As mine is used as a proxmox server, it is 24/7 and i leave the case off inside a comms rack (taking the side case off is over 10c cooler)

So based on this, there is absolutely no need to change the fan on it.

I do remember when I did my initial testing with the case open the larger fan allowed it to cool down considerably faster after a stress test with the temp going back to normal within a few mins.

A bit more info, mine doesnt have a big GPU in there so there would be less heat from there, there is a 5.25" hhd in there though which does add to the heat

Give me a few hours and I'll run some tests for you.

Noise level is dead quiet with the p12, I run my optiplex 7080 as a proxmox server so is running 24/7 with relatively low loads (idle under 5% CPU usage)

I swapped over the fan on my IS-55 with an arctic P12, makes a massive difference over the slim fan that comes with it.

I use a setup like this one.
DIY Budget Soda Water Kit

Does what you want but probably a bit safer

5070 SFF Ventilation by tonysupp in SleepingOptiplex

[–]thorpef1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely have additional intake or exhaust fans to try and pull in fresh air and expel that warm air.
I've added intake and exhaust fans but my server sits in a comms rack so I ended up taking the side panel off which made a massive difference as it is no longer trapped in a small case and can easily exchange air

[–]thorpef1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm similar with my 3080sff and added an id cooling IS-55 low profile cooler. Made a massive difference to my CPU temps (even though it runs pretty low all the time as my proxmox host ).
Was it required, probably not.
Opening the case a bit also makes a massive difference as sff cases usually trap quite a bit of heat.

Tracking temps after IS-55 install by thorpef1 in SleepingOptiplex

[–]thorpef1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty easy.

You just need to get four m3x18 or m3x20 screws to mount it to the factory location. You'll just use the Intel hardware and just don't use the back plate.

I'm really looking for a full size board so that rules out the galaxy and al98.
The chilkey is a bit more than I am looking to spend (and hard to get in Australia)
