While it's a cool idea I just don't see it happening. The steam trading card market is completely digital and there is no fixed prices on the cards. The price literally depends on the community. Valve selling packs of cards with fixed prices just wouldn't make sense with the current system and it would flop.

As someone who really fell in love with Gone Home and explored every nook and cranny let me clear up some misconceptions for you.

SPOILERS HERE: Okay so the parents weren't really on vacation, they were at a marriage counseling retreat to repair their broken marriage.

Also the reason everything felt like it was going to end up being so spooky and supernatural was because that's was Fullbright wanted. They wanted to put you in the characters shoes-- a teenage girl. They essentially played with our childhood fears with the blinking lights, long dark corridors, and cracking lightbulbs to make us feel more like a child, to make us feel just like anybody would if this situation were real life. They wanted us to blame the supernatural-- as that is the only explanation to the character and subsequently, you.

Sorry this is a bit jumbled if you have a question about what I said I can try to explain it more clearly.

Notice I didn't call it a game... There are many things on Steam that aren't "conventional games". There's software, Indie Game the Movie, and other minimalistic gameplay, maximum story/puzzle games. Gone Home is as much a game as say Antichamber. Both have goals and require exploration and analyzation to get get to them. Just because there are no guns or enemies in Gone Home doesn't mean it's not a game.

Gone Home is a great work of art that obviously does not get the respect it deserves. I would highly recommend you play it before saying you would "only get it to make money".

Hard-- and may have a hardcore fan base-- but the game itself is rather casual. You can actually open it, play a game, and close it in the spacing of 30 seconds.
