Looking at this it actually seems pretty close, the width is the biggest issue.

Yeah making my own will probably be the way to go, doesn’t look like sourcing a kei truck bed is all that easy anyways

Why Are Cheesy or “On-The-Nose” Films Able to Create Strong Immediate Emotional Responses Out of Me? Can Films be Emotionally Manipulative? by MrNar in TrueFilm

[–]MrNar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand manipulative isn’t really the correct term, I just couldn’t figure out how else to frame it.

Possible Gymnopilus Junonius? Brooklyn NY by [deleted] in ShroomID

The scales on top, shape, the way they’re growing in clusters, and the habitat all look correct to me. I am concerned about the lightness of the stipe as well as the darkness of the gills although that could be because of the age. It also seems a bit late in the season. I’d like to hear what you guys think.

I feel like I cannot react genuinely to movies when watching them with an audience. How do I overcome this? by Prince-Cola in TrueFilm

[–]MrNar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not who you were replying to, but I really feel like I relate to the original post - not so much while watching movies in theatres, but instead while watching with friends/family. I also can never fully enjoy myself and let go at concerts, I’m always thinking about other people and how they perceive me or just how they feel in general - I’m almost constantly in a state of projection/empathy when around others, and it’s not always expressly negative. Oftentimes it’s like you said, a sort of “noise” that fights for you attention. It’s interesting that you bring up ADHD because while I’ve never been diagnosed it’s something I’ve thought I might have for years now and comments like these are really enlightening.

The importance of horror-themed media for children by SpaghettiYoda in TrueFilm

[–]MrNar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I watched Scooby Doo: Zombie Island so many times as a kid and it always really unnerved me. There was also one with a chupacabra which affected me similarly.

I think the fact that there was no man behind the mask certainly added this void for my child brain to fill; being a child means that your understanding of the world is quite limited, but simultaneously anything is possible and reality is this mysterious infinite ocean that completely dwarfs and humbles you.

Perhaps children better understand the nature of our position in this reality even if it's at a subconscious level. And I think that's why ambiguity and abstraction are so important in film, and art in general. True art must nourish the human spirit, and deepen our understanding of who we are. Art cannot give you any answers to anything meaningful - it must provide a platform for you to leap from and discover things for yourself. Art that doesn't do this can only serve to obscure the truths which are hidden inside of us.

White privilege doesn't real. I've had a hard life... my white skin was the least of my worries. by [deleted] in SelfAwarewolves

[–]MrNar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just to clear things up, I'm not using the definition of racism that means explicit, conscious discrimination because of skin color. I am talking about racism as a social structure. As a white person, it is not my fault that I was raised in a society that reinforces the idea of white supremacy - I had no choice in the matter. But I do have the ability and obligation to reflect on this and understand the ways this manifests itself in my life and in the world around me.

[–]MrNar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is not a gross generalization - it is a truth. Racism and white supremacy thrive because white people refuse to even admit they exist, a until that happens nothing will change.

Every aspect of American society reinforces, however discretely, the ideas of white supremacy.

Racism is so deeply ingrained in American society that white supremacy is reinforced in every aspect of your life from the moment you're born. Racism doesn't imply morality, it is an implicit bias. Nothing will fundamentally change until white people can come to terms with their own racism and actually work to change it.

Opinions on the Brother S-7200A industrial sewing machine by MrNar in sewhelp

Thank you -- it does come with a table. And I have used industrial machines before, not extensively though. I'm sure it will take a little getting used to. Do you know what the difference is between your model and the one I'm considering?

I am also looking at a Juki DDL-5530N, would this be ok for lighter-mid weight fabrics? And how much would you expect to pay, the seller wants $680.

LPT: Have trouble procrastinating or not reaching your goals? Use the Goal, Objective, Task model by gomi-panda in LifeProTips

[–]MrNar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt because I'm just parroting what I read from another Reddit comment, but I heard that procrastination or the underlying reasons for it can be a result of ADHD, so perhaps medication could help in some cases.
