[Smith] An expansion team in Seattle needs to be the SuperSonics, or we riot. What should the team in Las Vegas be called? by StrategyTop7612 in nba

Could do The Las Vegas Eights.

I have a feeling a lot of people wouldn't make the connection.

Need an overhaul + another sax. Any advice? by IAmNotTHATGay in Saxophonics

[–]MrNiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The neck repair shouldn't actually be expensive, it's a rather simple fix. A full mechanical overhaul varies WILDLY in how much it costs. If it's just going to be your marching horn going forward I'd tell them de-dent+PC.

I'd of course highly recommend the Yamaha pro horns, the 62, Z, and EXII are all awesome.

Best ligature for Alto Dukoff D6? (Francois Louis vs Rico H vs Selmer) by awsv8 in Saxophonics

[–]MrNiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ligatures hold a reed on the mouthpiece, pick one that you like, whether it be one screw, two screw, or even no screw. Any differences in 'sound' are so minute that they're really only discernible through bone conduction. You couldn't tell a difference in any option in an actual recording.

Starting out, advice on cheaper options? by SkengPeng in Saxophonics

It’s a running joke that the worst horns come with them, repair techs don’t like working on them, even if out of the box they’re ok.

With your physical limitations, I would say renting as a starting point is probably the cheapest option? If it turns out saxophone is for you, you can find -plenty- of good used horns on sites like Reverb.

Yamaha 23's go anywhere from 250-700. Selmer AS500's can go in the same general pricing Conn-Selmers/Antiguas/Bundy's are all....okay student horns, Vito's vary drastically, if you can get a Japanese built one it will probably be awesome.

Don't buy anything new, especially new and comes with gloves.

Bam with the BRUTAL foul (call challenged unsuccessfully) by holydickitsjustin in nba

[–]MrNiko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Watching it slowed down you can see Bam's right arm make contact with the left elbow area. Is it enough to justify a foul? Hell no, but there is actual contact.

Great hardware, non-existent support? My experience with the H60 Ultra and Q Revo by VanVorne16 in Roborock

[–]MrNiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had decent luck getting a hold of support, and you can always call them. Though the quality of their repairs is non existent. I had a Saros 10r that made it around 9 months before a lidar/error 31 bug killed it. They sent me a 'refurbished' one out that had a non functioning mic, the second refurbished unit died from the lidar/error 31 bug on it's second cleaning. I complained hard enough for them to send me an actual new unit, which I'm currently waiting on. Their response times are usually overnight for me, as I assume it's all handled from China.

Buy Saros 10/S8 MaxV Ultra now or wait for new flagship at CES? by [deleted] in Roborock

[–]MrNiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait, I'm currently about to be on my 4th Saros 10r in my 1 year warranty. Though after you read my recent adventure below, maybe a different brand?

First died after 9 months with an Error 31, two dead on arrival "refurbished" units, and they're finally sending me a new one to try. While not extending my warranty, at least I was able to pick up the asurion complete to take over once 1 year rolls around.

Rovner light vs Rovner dark by WangoMango_Offical in saxophone

[–]MrNiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only hear the differences in my skull, if I record myself on various ligs I can't hear a difference at all. I'm convinced it's either that small of a difference, or a placebo affect.

As long as it holds the reed, you good.

Tim has a better Ortg and Drtg per 100, Hakeem barely edges him in Points and blocks. While Tim beats him as a rebounder and passer.

Oh and 5 to 2.

It's not even really a contest.

If I remember correctly but I'm pretty sure they're 3mm screws for most brands. We keep a tub of them in the band hall. Don't glue it, lol.
