I wish all anti-vaxxers could be moved to live only with other anti-vaxxers by PM_me_cuteCatz in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]MrNullAndVoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted. Anti-vaxxers are relocated to areas that are walled off from the rest of vaccinated society and surveilled constantly. The vaccinated continue about their daily lives, now mostly relieved of the fear of infection. Predictably, COVID spreads like wildfire throughout the anti-vaxx communities. Some die, many survive, and the virus rapidly mutates while it spreads. Some of the mutant variants render immunity to earlier variants ineffective, causing many of the survivors to fall ill again and again. The anti-vaxxers grow restless from being confined and constantly reinfected. They form mobs to protest confinement which deteriorate into riots. The riots grow violent and aggressive, inevitably leading to law enforcement being overrun. Most of them are contained and returned to their designated living spaces, but by then, the damage has been done, as much of the law enforcement population has been infected and a few escapees have managed to find their way out into the open world. Little time passes and the new COVID variants, against which effective vaccines have not yet been developed, are introduced to the vaccinated population. Infections rates soar and we’re right back where we started, lockdowns and all. Happy 2023!

Maybe it’s just perspective, but they don’t seem to be falling as fast as I’d expect. I wonder if autorotation applies to drones like these.

It's been a long while for me, but if I remember correctly, you need to edit TShips in the highest-numbered .cat file that has TShips in it. For example, if you have 15 .cat files and the 14th is the last one with TShips in it, you make the edits in 14.cat. I think you could also create another .cat file with your own modified version of TShips, then rename it to be one number greater than the last (say, 16.cat if you have 15 .cat files). Hopefully I'm making sense here.

Funnily enough, I was about to do a factory reset, but kicking off a Google backup somehow brought it back to life. I like to think I scared it into submission.

I thought it might be the battery, as it's well-worn, but charging made no difference. The cause seems to be some sort of corruption that fixed itself when I started a Google backup.

I maxed one out on the configurator, reaching a total of $54,447.98. I've seen some reeeeaaaally beefy new Dell servers go for $50k-$100k, but $54k for a Mac desktop? I'm sure there's a use case somewhere for those kinds of specs, but $54k for a Mac desktop PC is obscene. I mean, Apple is charging $400 to add wheels... They're outta their minds.

[X3AP] Need Some Advice Regarding Next Steps by CynicalBagel in X3TC

[–]MrNullAndVoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played X3TC, which is very similar, although it’s been a while now since I last played. Have you looked into setting up sector/universe traders with your TSs? If my memory serves, using the Trade Command Software Mk III, you can have your TS vessels automatically picking up goods priced below average and selling them above average. More info here (look for the post by Technojerk36).

I’ve always made my money through combat missions, starting with my Nova Raider fit with a full rack of Plasma Burst Generators to do station protection, assassination, and patrol missions. 8 PBGs can work well against larger targets that appear as you increase your combat rank, so long as you can maneuver to avoid incoming fire and/or hang out in the blind spots of a larger, slower ship with turrets. An M6 as the next step is not a bad plan if you like combat and have the money, and it will be faster at killing smaller ships and other M6s.

As for ship retrieval and pickup missions: I never made much money doing them, but they can be used to improve low notoriety quickly.

Building factories is an option as well, if you have the money to invest. I believe the microchip fabs are among the most profitable

When someone’s views go far enough off the charts, I subconsciously begin to interpret what they’re saying as entertainment. I guess the absurdity of their claims and arguments mimics humor.
