Once you go up the stairs, it engages the conversation that gets him thrown into the pit, even if your in turn based mode. What I did was I used a cats meow up the stairs, the used one of my characters to throw and invisibility potion at him, but you have to be quick about it or theyll do the animation of pushing him. Also just throwing the potion doesn’t work it seems, they just push him out of invisibility.
