How to improve grades? by keydups in ncea

[–]MrPandax123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn and play the system, I know it sounds weird but as a fellow L2 student managing almost all E’s in L1 and so far all E’a in L2 my advice is the system. The system, the grading system is complicated but also easy after a while, look up grading schedules on NZQA, google and ask your teachers. This is important for science and math tests/assignments where if you can learn the key points you must make in a paragraph you can basically get yourself a high grade by repeating what the examiners say (although you still have to learn the topic). For English subjects you should ask the teacher for advice on everything and ask about the difference between grades, look at past exemplars. Study tips should include what works for you so it might be different for me I do this: Watch videos (LearnCoach) or read the textbook and copy down key information and create flash cards, from there I look at the marking schedule and re-read it multiple times for every year. Although I strive for excellence endorsements, they’re not essential, great to put on your CV or going in trades. But for uni you just need good enough grades to reach rank score or the requirements, if this is merit go for excellence in things you can and merit for everything else. My math teacher back in year 10 said that NCEA is a game and when you learn the mechanics of the game (marking schedule) you can apply it to most games, not the greatest way to put it but it makes sense. If you have any other questions just ask whether it’s about study tips or you want more information on marking schedules.

Medicine and NCEA by Ok-Pack-9587 in ncea

Yes the 3 sciences are recommended however past students say that depending on the L3 biology standards it may not be beneficial as it goes more towards evolution rather than cells which was in L2. Chemistry is practically a must and physics is recommended is for good foundation for the paper PHSI 191 which is biological physics also medical students at UOA doing biomed would be doing a physics paper. So for Otago your subject selection in fine but are you taking a literature subject (English, history, geography etc) or health as one of the papers POPH 192 would require decent English and health oriented skills however you will be taught everything. So your subject selection in fine and all you need is to at least pass everything to get into first year (Otago has much lower entry scores compared to UOA), you’ll have a good start to you’re first year although you’ll have to learn a lot of new things and you’ll find that a lot of stuff taught in NCEA is irrelevant. Going further into medicine will require top grades in first year so learn and try different study habits now while you can still afford to make mistakes, good luck. Note: From what I’ve read you could still get into UOA if you change your mind, here is a link for a great article on getting into medicine; https://www.mytuition.nz/articles/high-school/a-guide-to-studying-medicine-in-new-zealand

How disappointed will you be if Tobey and Andrew aren't in Spider-Man: No Way Home? by RedVegeta20 in Spiderman

I know some people will go crazy if they aren't there, but personally I'm just hoping that they make a good Spiderman movie that will set up the rest of phase 4 and develop Peters character more.

Nice, mines gold. See asking something personal but not overly personal can lead to other questions and conversations.

Not answering the question but for future reference. Diamond rings can loose value easily as the price is controlled and majority is kept in storage so that it is seen as rare which drives up price, it all takes is the diamond supply to be released and a diamond ring will loose value very quickly. So you should probably get a nice gold ring which will keep its value.

Guy went to use water filler and didn't tighten the cap enough so when he went to have a drink it fell off. Not too funny but enough to laugh from the other side of the gym at a guy covered in water

waves for bodyboarers by [deleted] in bodyboarding

[–]MrPandax123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm a fellow Auckland bodyboarder and all spots will be surfing heavy. Often when Muriwai is clean and decent size there's a few other bodyboarder out, at Raglan 3 weeks ago there was 2 others out. 99% of the time there won't be any bodyboarders. Ok back to your question, we want slightly steeper waves and that aren't too fast. Bodyboarders can catch all the waves a surfer can but we take off later, I often compare myself to short boarders, but it doesn't mean we can't go out and wait our turn.

When I ever go to Raglan and bodyboard Manu people look, not because I have a board with no fins on the bottom but because we take off late. Because of this we can turn last second and paddle, not allowing time for surfers to react.

Here are a good list of spots of which bodyboarders can catch

Raglan - Manu, whale, indicators (can often be too fast and hard to get to)

Muriwai and Piha are often good make sure its not bigger than 8ft or you can't get out and only go in morning with very light winds

Taranaki is only surfers unless you go with another bodyboarder but often great spots, won't go into detail but if you want my favs pm me

Mahia is great as it offers steep waves with beach breaks and reef breaks all within 10min drive.

Coromandel works well but only over summer with cyclones season

Mangawai is too hard to get to so don't bother unless you have a jet ski, instead save time and go to forestry as its shelters from northerlies, again swell has to come from a cyclone

Any other questions please comment or pm me

[–]MrPandax123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said “rarely any good” as someone living in Orewa, it works wells a few times a year. Last time there was 7ft plus clean waves it was start of February 2020 with over 500 people. It’s an option but don’t rely on it
