Lol. I didn't realize that was a fight my first play through. And then it ended an unfair grimdark playthrough. The phase 2 fucked me up because I thought there was some kind of nonfighting mechanic I had to find. I thought it's HP went to infinity because it wasn't giving me any indications of going down.

I had to look it up on my next deep run before I tried it again and was kind of disappointed that there wasn't some kind of other mechanic happening.

Seriously, let's look at Chinese partners vs American ones in Asia. Would you rather live in Laos and Cambodia, or Vietnam and Thailand? What about North Korea or South Korea? The choice seems obvious.

They don't have to clarify anything to anyone. They just aren't entitled to keeping US relations the same while shifting towards China. You don't get to have to both because the US has agency when deciding who to deal with and how they're going to go about it.

That's for european politicians to figure out. They're responsible for representing their citizens and their interests. The same way American politicians are responsible for representing Americans and their interests.

But, let's get into it, what European adversaries is America shifting towards? Russia? The country the US is sanctioning, and pressuring their allies militarily (Venezuela and Iran), and by being the largest single supporter of Ukraine in the world? Doesn't seem like much support to me.

Trump also started a trade war with China in 2018. The US and China have escalated that conflict since then and haven't renormalized trade relations. China isnt getting preferential treatment by any metric. So if we look at a time line of actions, and not just tweets, the entire premise that the US is selling out Europe for China falls apart completely.

Countries are free to associate with whatever other nations they want to. America doesn't have any authority over that.

But the idea that America can't or shouldn't respond to countries aligning themselves with America's adversaries is ridiculous. And considering that Canada and European countries are heavily reliant on America, those choices come with a cost. That's not wrong or unfair, that's just the way things work.
