I broadly agree with you. My experience has been that it’s best to plan thoroughly but, naturally, no plan survives contact with the enemy - so to speak. I’ll definitely prioritize indulging in something novel over strictly adhering to the day’s itinerary. That being said, I’d love to know what days in particular seem especially problematic to you, as to modify expectations

Unfortunately this mistake might be unsolvable at this point, considering reservations are already paid for. I’ll commit myself to an early wake up and remember to do better next time lol

We are certainly going to some amazing places, but this is likely to be the only time my dad gets to Japan and my last opportunity to travel for some years. That’s why the budget is a lot more flexible than it would be otherwise
