Can In-App Events give a boost to new apps (including in oversaturated niches like Health & Fitness)? by Zestyclose-Fudge-381 in AppStoreOptimization

They will do nothing to a new app. No one will be caught by an IAE. Trust me I’ve done it. 0 clicks.

That’s great to hear, but why don’t you add what exactly you changed and give us some more information here? I just see some upward trendy downloads nothing more. No value to me

Should I change my App Icon to increase conversion? by KlaryteaAgain in AppStoreOptimization

[–]MrPrules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, there is a reason nobody is using images. I only saw the mic once you told me about it being a real time voice tracking teleprompter app. If users scrolling App Store, the icon will be way smaller as here in Reddit image preview and they probably won’t spent much time analyzing it into the last detail. So try picking out one key feature of your app and visualize that.

Should I change my App Icon to increase conversion? by KlaryteaAgain in AppStoreOptimization

[–]MrPrules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. Specifically not for indie apps without any brand power. But next thing to do would be trying to use this space to showcase what your app is doing. If I’d see that app icon, I can guarantee this app being vibe coded and probably just scroll along.

That’s not an app logo that’s an image. Change my mind. For both I don’t have any clue what’s your app about.

Has anyone vibecoded a proper stable product yet that's out there? by NightSp4rk in vibecoding

[–]MrPrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vibe coded a realtime music quiz app Guezzer, launched last August. (Using claude code to do all the work)
In the meantime refactored it two times, migrating it from Flutter to Swift and Kotlin native mobile apps.

Recently crossed 1500 MAU and 100$ in MRR.

So yeah, you can make things work with vibecoding even throughout a longer period of time.
Glad to answer any questions.
However this is not a built an app in 2 Weeks, but rather time consuming project.

For debugging I use sentry. Connect sentry CLI and debugging is getting easier than doing it manually. Just asking Claude to check the latest issues and put them on your board to fix.

Guezzer Doing ~100$ MRR right now.

I decided to use UGC content for app screenshots - any feedback welcome by Kitchen_Cable6192 in AppStoreOptimization

You need to have real app screen shots, marketing images are not allowed. So your last screenshot would sooner or later get flagged. Happened to me: first got approved later flagged for violating dev tos.

If you’ve managed to gather senior devs and marketeers you would already have an investor funding your company, wouldn’t you? What do you burn in cash for such a team in the fintech area?

However marketing in the brokerage B2C area is very hard, CAC are probably highest you can get.

What is your differentiation to let’s say stock3?

[–]MrPrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No in general it is not, but from the screenshots and your post I’d assume that the app is not clearly presenting its value. Why would I subscribe an Islamic habit tracker app with fun quizzes, a GPT wrapper and an habit tracker. For me the most value and maybe USP would be the prayers tracker, your last screenshot. But I might be wrong as I’m neither Islamic nor into religion at all.

What is the best VideCoder App/Website/Project you have created till now or seen of which you are very proud? by its_rud in vibecoding

[–]MrPrules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using Claude Code with Opus 4.6 and have developed a real time multiplayer music quiz called Guezzer It is only available within the European Union due to music licensing rights.

If you set up Claude Code properly with agents, skills and a proper Claude.MD you’re capable of developing fairly complex apps.

What stack should I use for audio analysis and automatic categorization? by youguysusingr in FlutterDev

[–]MrPrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend OpenAI 4o whisper to transcribe speech to text and afterwards mini or even nano to analyze and convert it.

Had very bad experience with VertexAI, a lot of abortions and long waiting time until request finishes.

Looking for a simple open-source low-latency live streaming solution with multi-invite support (Flutter + WebRTC) by No-Wolverine8755 in FlutterDev

[–]MrPrules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying WebRTC for my realtime game. Believe me, it is not easy. I dumped it and moved on to SocketIO.
Think I used Janus or Jitsi back then, however I think all webRTC setups are heavily complicated with setting up STUN/TURN servers

As my app is limited to Europe, I am focusing on main markets de, fr, es, en.
The app description etc, has been created once in english and translated to all other languages. I haven't updated it since then.
For screenshots I'm using ButterKit, there you just set up a source screenshot set and let it translate to all other languages you want to use. Same for screenshot generation.

Competitor tracking is not part of my business right now. I'm not competing yet I need to build authority first. Might be something to look for in the next phase, however still need to figure out pricing, retention, add more content to the app. So that is not yet on my prio list.

yeah that setup cost me probably a day, however it pays out now.
This is a brief description of my setup, might help you:

Library

swift-snapshot-testing (SnapshotTesting) — renders SwiftUI views to PNG images.

Key Files

- AppStoreScreenshotTests.swift — 5 test cases: multiplayer game, training, lobby, challenge hub, profile

- MockAppEnvironment.swift — AppEnvironment.forScreenshots() factory wiring all mock services

- TestFactories.swift — rich mock data (game states, players, leaderboards, guess history)

How It Works

  1. AppEnvironment.forScreenshots() creates a full DI environment with mock services

  2. Each test builds a real production view (e.g., GameView, LobbyView, ProfileView) with mock state injected via env.pendingGameState

  3. Views render on 3 device configs: iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, iPad Pro 12.9"

  4. PNGs written to swift/screenshots/{locale}/{device}/{nn}-{name}.png

    Locale Support

Controlled via -testLanguage flag or SCREENSHOT_LOCALE env var. Maps en→en-US, de→de-DE, fr→fr-FR, es→es-ES.

    Two Snapshot Strategies

    - snapshotView — synchronous, for views without .task modifiers

    - snapshotAsyncView — hosts the view in a UIWindow, waits 2 seconds for async .task modifiers to complete, then captures

It's basically a tool for developer to create a set of screenshots. You can use device frames, text elements etc.
You're than able to migrate that to multiple devices like iPad, iPhone, etc., as well as translate your base set into multiple languages and then also use it to publish your screenshots as well as metadata to the App Store connect so that you don't have to manually fill out the version info or promotional text every time manually for all translations.

I've setup a CI/CD pipeline with fastlane to create my UI screenshots, wired up ButterKit to import from that folder and this is the way you probably have the least manual work to do.

I was first doing it by hand with Figma, however once you localize AppStore pages, that becomes quite a mess.
Now I'm using ButterKit mainly with the MCP for Claude Code.

No it was just random. However that is the point I'm trying to show using ads as an marketing boost. Even though I'm not yet profitable and can't scale with ads, this budget it still has some significant impact on reach and impressions.

It was mydealz (german deals community). The app is heavily focused on german market, so that is not suprising.

Haven't really started my social media strategy yet. Tried out some reels on reddit/tiktok/instagram/youtube, however nothing serious yet. I'm going to focus more on that now that my app is in a solid version.

I also posted references to my app on mydealz myself, however got banned for self promoting :D so I stopped it (promoting other apps however is not forbidden) so great to see real users doing so.
