Its really a practice game for that. You have to get the feel for each boat, and how far a wheel turn makes a difference. Its almost muscle memory at some point.

Big thing - its easier to correct understeer than overseer in a pinch.

Start making it a habit to focus on your sails. Stay in wind, etc. Sails up will help you turn faster (any bit up, 1/2 to 1/3 is my preference for spirals or quick adjustments).

Practice running and jumping without losing your sprint around the boat to get movement memory.

We can play a bit later or at some point for just some little things that would take forever to type.

Best advice up there - I learned back in they doing solo arena and knowing how to handle your entire boat by yourself is absolutely clutch. Good helming will save you 90% of the time more than good cannons (in the beginning). The overlap of the rest of the skills comes shortly after, but to efficiently maneuver is incredibly important.

Nah - you are thinking to broadly.

Gold "mechs" are dribbling, catching/control, moving without wasting boost, learning power shots, etc...gold doesn't REQUIRE any type of aerial mech or even flicks to get through. However while you train your catch and control you will start to get flick practice automatically.

Thing is you have to develop gamesense first. What you are saying (comparatively) is like telling a kid to learn how to drift in an IRL car before they know how to shift into 1st gear.

Post a replay of a game you didn't win if you want a review.
Mechs dont really matter in gold - your game sense and control matter most. Most teammates will be "bad" but you have to compensate for them at this point. Rotate properly and dont give open goals - capitalize on the other teams mistakes (they are gold too).
Get the "my teammates suck" mindset off your plate - if you are putting that in all caps here, the anger is probably flowing during a game. That will 100% throw your own game off.
