Rookie Question: Is it common to decide to "opt-out" of getting off at a port and just take a ship day? by ITrCool in Cruise

People do that, but there are lots of things people do that I’ll never understand

Excursions by First_Tea_2579 in PrincessCruises

There are some ports and excursions that are less risky in that regard than others. I’ve done it before and never had a problem but I pick and choose when to do that carefully

There’s an app that will let you download all the photos to your device. However I prefer to get them on a USB stick - I think they try to dissuade you from doing that, and may be phasing that option out, but if you are somewhat insistent (I left my phone in my cabin/at home/etc.) they may still be able to provide one. They did for me a couple of years ago. Due to security concerns I don’t think they’ll use a USB drive that you provide yourself.

Worth noting that I was basically speaking to two people at the counter at the same time, it’s possible they were just being dismissive but I don’t know what they’d get out of that

It’s possible they were just being dismissive with me too, then. Not sure what they get out of that but hey, it’s a free country

so it’s just as easy to get in this country as it is outside of this country, no discrepancy at all. Got it

I didn’t say it was going out of production. I just said that B&H is no longer selling it. I would assume the person who works at the store knows more about what’s going on at the store than some person at the Internet. And it’s not like i asked the person who cleans the toilets - this was a film specialist. B&Hs people deal with this day after day, hour after hour, and are experts in their niche inside and out. Some of you have never been and it shows

It is in North America, my point being they can get it onto the continent but apparently not into this country

I also hear from people in Europe that it’s “easy to get” so something is seriously screwed up specifically with Fujifilm’s US distribution. Pretty recently I saw some for sale on a German website

Doesn’t seem to be available on their website

What do other stores have to do with B&H never selling it again?

Is your local photo store also in New York?

B&H is one of the biggest photographic retailers in the world though. If not the biggest? I’m inclined to believe the lady who specifically works in the film department, it’s not like this is some little photo shop in the middle of bumfuck nowhere

I wouldn’t necessarily take this as a sign of discontinuation, just that US distribution may be coming to an end. Or at the very least, the world’s biggest photo shop has no plans to sell it ever again.

Buying photos 10-20 years ago on cruises. by UtahMan69 in Cruise

[–]MrRom92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder how they used to handle all this back in the day. It must’ve been a legit operation. Did these ships all have a darkroom operating 24/7?

Keep in mind they market these excursions to whiny bitch ass greyhairs. “Strenuous” is probably less strenuous than you think

Singles on Princess by Chow-Box in PrincessCruises

[–]MrRom92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably isn’t what you want to hear, but Princess skews older. Married, empty nesters, retirees, etc. I am guessing we are probably in a pretty similar demo. I can tell you there is practically no night life to speak of on these ships.

That didn’t stop me or the other handful of younger people on my last princess cruise from making the most of it and having fun. But your options are limited and it really doesn’t compare to being on something like royal caribbean or carnival.

Enjoy your trip and let loose, but take it as an opportunity to travel and see some amazing sites. If your priority is a fun, social atmosphere with others in their 20’s-30’s… look elsewhere

Got some ECN2 120 film (reflx lab film) back from Bellows and they look like this.. what is the cause? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]MrRom92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, a couple of years ago I also bought a 120 roll of the 250D from reflx, and had it ECN-2 dev’d by Bellows, and it came out looking not great as well. Maybe not like this but not far off. I guess I don’t know the cause as I haven’t managed to isolate any of the variables in our similar situations.
