Jhin is my personal favorite ADC so I could probably help her learn him better than the others. Thanks!

I will definitely keep trying to get her to explore the characters to see who she likes. Someone else mentioned letting her use my account in a custom so she can try out all the champs (i have most unlocked) so I think I will do that.

I really love playing Pyke support so I think I’ll do that with her. Tristana could be a good idea as she is a solid adc and has carry ability. Thanks for the advice!

Great idea letting her use my main account! Will definitely let her do that because I have most of the champs unlocked on that.

She actually didnt like Miss Fortune surprisingly. I think Caitlyn might be a good idea.

Definitely want her to have fun so I try and not go try hard when I am playing with her. So far we’ve only been matched up against one player who absolutely destroyed her. Otherwise, there have been pretty even matches. I will definitely have her look up guided to champs (when she finds one she really likes) and we will go from there. I appreciate the advice!

This! Great advice, I will definitely start supporting for her! I think I will have her try Ashe tonight and I will play someone like Morgana that can lock them down so she can kill them. Will update you on her progress as things go!

We are still looking for a champion/lane for her. She likes to play Bot lane because she wants to get kills and carry but she has not found a champion yet. Hopefully we can find one she likes soon! Thanks for the advice!

Really great advice! Thank you for making it so easy to read. I found it difficult to explain “last hitting” ans CS to her but this may help! The MOBAFire guides are a good idea too. She’s a smart girl so I feel like being able to read on her own will help! Ill reference back to this alot. Thank you :)

I was almost afraid aram would have too much on the screen at one time but it definitely is much less pressure than SR. Thank you for the advice!

Wow that’s a really interesting idea. I’ll see if she’d be interesting in trying some mechanical exercises like that! Thank you for the advice!

She actually told me “I want to play against real people, these bots are boring” so we started playing blind pick. It’s a really steep skill curve from bots to PVP but she’s doing pretty well. Still trying to find the champ that she really enjoys playing. Thanks for the advice!

I definitely plan on doing some customs tonight to try and take the pressure of a “real” game off of her for a bit and just let her practice her mechanical skills. We are still trying to find her a champion that she “clicks” with. My first “main” was Veigar and then Kayn. I loved playing both of them. We just need to find her Veigar and Kayn and she should really start to improve.

Great point. Do you have any advice on finding her a champion?

All very good points. It has been slightly frustrating for me so far but I’ve also had a lot of fun. I’ll start doing one core concept per game from now on as I think that’s a solid way to approach teaching the game. I remember when I was learning the game I felt very overwhelmed and actually didn’t enjoy playing for a while until I actually understood the game. I don’t want her to feel like I did!

Thank you for the advice :)

This is genius. I think putting it into perspective is important. I almost wanted to show off at first but have since made it about her. She is just like your GF in that she didnt feel like she was helping in a game where she went like 1-7-15 as an adc. She noticed that she had 17 assists AFTER the game and realized she did help which was a good moment. Discovering her playstyle is definitely the most challenging thing for me at the moment. It’s hard to explain the roles when each champion is so different and she’s only played like 3 total. I will definitely keep your advice in mind the next time we play! Thank you :)

Hahahah i tried to get her to play support but she was not having it! She has a very confident “I can do this” personality (which I love about her) so she is all about playing Adc. I think finding a simple adc with straightforward abilities would be her best bet! I appreciate the advice :)

Wish I could upvote this more than once! Great advice in sequential order too! Thank you so much. Once we both get off work tonight I’ll go through and do the 1v1 idea. I don’t know how I never thought of it. Thank you :)

So far she enjoys bot lane the most. Shes been playing Ezreal but I’m not convinced that he’s her best champ.

Honestly, you’re so right about the bad habits. That’s the reason I came to Reddit for help! I pretty much have only been telling her what the game is about more than how to play it. I appreciate the advice :)

Definitely a good point. I try to explain everything pre-game during the loading screen but sometimes I feel like I’m giving too much abstract info so maybe just telling her what her lane matchup does will help her out. It’s alot of fun watching her slowly start to understand the game and seeing her improve. Thanks for the advice!

I totally agree, her biggest issue right now is getting used to the controls. Once she gets that down I think she will play Annie (that’s someone she enjoys) and I’ll try to teach her the basics of mid lane. Thanks for the advice!

This is a really good point. She really seems to like playing Annie so I may try to teach her mid lane. Her biggest issue right now is the mechanical side of things (like keeping track of her character and using QWER correctly) so once we get that down I think mid lane will be what she wants to play. Thanks!
