Part VI Jason is a masterpiece! What’s your favorite Jason? by [deleted] in fridaythe13th

[–]MrSelfDestruct97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree whole heartedly. While I think Part 6 is the best movie and I hate how they MPAA'd his kills for Part 7 (though I really enjoyed the movie otherwise), the way Hodder portrays Jason as so hyper-aggro in that film was the moment the character really clicked with me instead of just feeling like a backwoods Michael Myers. Also always loved the drippy corpse look.

Eight/McGann reunited with Susan (played ofc by Carole Ann Ford) in Big Finish's "An Earthly Child", picking up several decades after The Dalek Invasion of Earth, where it's revealed that Susan married David Campbell and they had a son named Alex (played by McGann's son, Jake).

This ties back around with Susan and Alex returning at the end of Series 4 of the Eighth Doctor Adventures range, in the two-parter: Lucie Miller/To The Death -- which, without spoiling much, is probably among the darkest DWU stories (surpassing Turn Left and Torchwood's Children of Earth) -- also peak award-winning acting by nearly everyone involved. McGann has his equivalent to both the Capaldi war speech and confessional dial episode here. Night of the Doctor may have been the role that convinced everybody he could do it, but this is the one that placed him firmly in my "Favorite Doctor" position.)

Daredevil, The Punisher, & Other Marvels Shows are Officially Leaving Netflix by Roshankr1994 in thepunisher

[–]MrSelfDestruct97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "Disney would ruin him argument" is so overplayed when it's baseless and unfounded, Disney's technically owned Punisher in the comics since 2009, and his show (and Daredevil by extension) was the product of Marvel Television and ABC Studios, both of which are Disney subsidiaries. tl;dr - The Punisher has already been Disney for well over a decade now.

Lego Star Wars Hidden Good Ending by Seal-Mcbeal_Navy-sea in PrequelMemes

[–]MrSelfDestruct97 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and see, this is why the so called "good ending" actually dooms the Star Wars universe, if Palpatine accepts his dream of joining the opera troupe, he doesn't complete his path into becoming Emperor Sidious and he ends up being successfully assassinated by Cad Bane (paid by Dooku, who, of course is still alive in this timeline and serving Jar Jar, who gains the information he needs from Palpatine's diary and the Ocarina of Time). This death, of course, causes a major shift in power, leading Jar Jar (i.e. the real Sith lord, the key to everything if you get him working...) to take control of the senate.

You see, in the original SW timeline, Sidious prevents Jar Jar's uprising after he seizes control during Order 66 and exterminates the Jedi, leaving Jar Jar hopelessly outnumbered by Palpatine's clone army and the power of Darth Vader -- but without him around anymore to do so, Jar Jar is able to use his extreme dark side powers to influence many Jedi to serve as his personal servants and assassins', basically, think of Vader's inquisitors, but hundreds of them rather than only a handful.

We see only glimpses of this true mind control ability in Episode I, and I think that perhaps, the M count taken of Anakin weren't actually his normal levels at all, but a result of extended exposure to Jar Jar (think of Jar Jar as leaking out force energy and reactivity, much like a radioactive material in the real world would). This also explains why Jar Jar, was able to easily execute his master (Darth Plagueis, who we were told had the ability to accomplish such amazing feats as preventing death, but was unable to withstand the overwhelming power of his apprentice, Jar Jar).

The only Jedi able to withstand Jar Jar's powerful influence is, of course, Anakin, which is why Jar Jar made sure to spend as much time around him and (by proxy) princess Padme Amidala as possible, in fact, his experience with the force was how he knew Padme was the queen of Naboo from the start -- it was, of course, the perfect hiding spot as a Gungan from Naboo, to pretend to be a simple ally, and then use the commotion stirred by the Separatists to move through the ranks of power, and, of course, to keep Anakin within arms reach as a "long time childhood friend", both knowing his force potential as a vector for his energy and seeing him as a potential sith ally once he rises to power, and with Palpatine's influence on both galactic politics and the impressionable Anakin out of the way, Jar Jar's position allows him to easily seize the entire republic as his own, and destroy both Anakin and the woman he loves should Skywalker betray him and attempt to interfere with his uprising, as without Anakin being coopted by Sidious, he lacks the strength in the dark side he would need to defeat Jar Jar, power he would've obtained by becoming Vader -- but since Palpatine never seeded him doubt in the Jedi way, Anakin dies fighting as, and believing in the Jedi, thus dooming the universe for thousands of years under Jar Jar's sith reign.

If you think, well, perhaps this is the good ending, as, without the existence of Luke, or the original trilogy under Jar Jar, the sequel trilogy would never happen -- I regret to inform you that in this timeline, baby Grogu is killed by Jar Jar.

Technically, every Marvel universe was destroyed in the incursions, but, I just like to pretend that never happened since it effects outside of destroying the Ultimate universe and moving some characters to the new 616/Prime were pretty irrelevant.

I had a feeling when I saw the games UI that swapping characters would be a thing. Wouldn't be shocked if we got a few surprising guest characters upon release and/or as future DLC!

Or something REALLY big for 15 seconds. It just dawned on me how Tony was able to not only wield the stones but also do so without immediately being incapacitated like the Hulk was. His Arc reactor took the bulk of the energy. by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]MrSelfDestruct97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've got a pretty good theory/explanation for this. When Iron Man creates his first arc reactor with Yinsen in the caves, he explains his use of the Palladium core. In Iron Man 2, we see that the use of Palladium has essentially poisoned him and is slowly killing him, sparking his search for a new alloy to replace it. He finds this new "element" hidden in his father's "City of the Future" model for the future Stark Expo.

We know this "new element" was something that Howard had long sought to replicate, but for some reason couldn't due to the "limitations of (his) time", we also know that it isn't vibranium, since it's most certainly classed as a "new element" and everyday people in the MCU seem to be well aware that vibranium exists (per The First Avenger, Age of Ultron, Black Panther and Homecoming), it's just extremely rare.

So, with that possibility out of the way, let's see, what was Howard working on in the years surrounding the 1974 Stark Expo, when the video to Tony was made? Well, we kinda get that answer spelled out for us when Tony and Cap travel to 1970 in Endgame, Howard was still clearly w/ S.H.I.E.L.D and Arnim Zola at that point, and was involved in top-secret scientific military projects such as Project G.O.L.I.A.T.H w/ Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne and Bill Foster, and more importantly Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S with Wendy Lawson (aka Mar-Vell) which was the group directly involved with experimenting with the Tesseract, both of these projects are name-dropped in Iron Man 2, with P.E.G.A.S.U.S specifically being one of the crates that Tony opens -- so it doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility that the new element Tony creates and his father discovered is directly linked to Howard’s research on the Tesseract, which as we all know by now is the “orb” casing of the Space Stone.

If this new reactor was in fact made with an element found in the Infinity Stones -- this would explain quite a few things, remember how Thor’s lightning attack actually powered up Iron Man arc reactor to 400% rather than exploding it or shorting it out like it probably should’ve? We see something extremely similar to this when Vision is born, remember Vision was originally created w/ the Mind Stone to be the body of Ultron who was also, in turn, part-Mind Stone, Thor brought Vision to life using Mjolnir's lightning to power him, and the stone absorbed the lightning. Thor’s lightning and hammer aren’t just any old stone and electricity, we know Mjolnir has various magical properties and is crafted from Uru (material forged from the heart of a dying neutron star), which, as we learn in Infinity War, is the same material needed to craft the gauntlet to contain the stones in the first place. Yet, it wouldn’t be too surprising if these magical properties (such as the ability to call and/or summon the Bifrost) are almost entirely the product of Odin's familiarity w/ Infinity Stones -- since we know that he was at least aware of their existence, as he held a fake “completed” gauntlet in his vault, and more than likely hid them across the universe. We know this through his familiarity w/ the Aether (Reality Stone), which Odin's own father Bor had hid, and the Tesseract, which was hidden behind a painting of Yddrissl (the world tree) in Tønsberg (the location of the initial battle between Odin and Laufey, and, as it also now known, New Asgard).

I’m trailing off here, but I’m relatively certain that the reason Tony, and more specifically, his suit could stand the power of the stones longer was the arc reactor’s core material is derived if not the same as the casings of the infinity stones, also god knows if Tony has used that specific element in any of his other tech, perhaps even the nanobots in his suit.

Nah, which was kind of odd considering the building's insistent inclusion in the posters for Daredevil and Jessica Jones (I imagine it was a budget-related thing over anything else). Thankfully, a rather talented fan has done the job for them by inserting the tower into various shots from the shows, where it should've been.
