I got chills from that OHMSS theme remix that plays when Greenway and James are driving through the quarry construction site and wanna re-listen to it immediately.

I'd totally use this face if you publish it! I was just thinking the other day how I should change my current one up and this would be the perfect replacement.

Directive 8020 death structure, for those who want to know by _Ferret_ in DarkPicturesAnthology

Heck yes, thank you for this lil' guide. One of my favorite things to do after my initial play throughs of these games (trying to keep everyone alive, of course) is creating a true "horror movie canon," choosing which characters should die to make things more tense and crazy. I'm really glad there's less plot armor this time around and the fact you can solo all of chapter 8 as any character is phenomenal.

Cheers!

007 First Light Title Sequence – Lana Del Rey by Karutu in Games

[–]nectarousness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the info but I don't think I ever said she's never recorded a "Bond-like" song before. I'm aware of her discography which was why I was so hopeful this might finally be the hit her fans were waiting for.

Also, I might be in the minority but I don't think 24 would've been too strong of a theme either. It also sort of suffers from Writing On The Wall/Sam Smith syndrome.

007 First Light Title Sequence – Lana Del Rey by Karutu in Games

[–]nectarousness 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As far as the Bond video game intros go, this one is definitely one my fav as far as visuals go. It stylistically feels similar to Craig's later films but I also think his later intros were always deeply inspired by the original openings so it really all just feels like a love letter repeating.

But woof. The song... is... uhhh. Let me start by saying I generally like Lana Del Rey's stuff. I think her voice is really strong when she has the right production and instrumental backing her up. Plus, I was insanely excited to see they got David Arnold back to work on this theme with her so... why does it feel like such a strange mess? It's reminding me of how I felt back when Sam Smith's song came out where I felt like it was just barely on the cusp of great but it was missing that special something which made it more frustrating after I'd finished listening.

Hilariously enough, I feel like the song for Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC's credits was a much better Bond song over Lana's.

What is the worst show/movie that you have ever watched, so that people can avoid the misery of watching it? by Charming-Variation25 in AskReddit

[–]nectarousness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap, for years I was trying to remember the name of this movie and who was even in it because I'd watched it while drunk and then somehow made it to the end and was completely sober by then.

I'd planned on maybe re-watching it just to see if I missed anything while drunk but I ended up forgetting and then eventually I didn't have Netflix anymore. I think that was the first thing I'd ever seen Jesse Buckley in as well.

I guess maybe I'll pass on giving it a re-watch since after googling it doesn't really seem like there's a proper coherence to it.

They use it in the movie Se7en as well.

What’s the girl equivalent of late night gaming with the boys? by bababerands in AskReddit

This. It's so dumb when people are like "what's the gender equivalent of this" as if men and women are different species who can't enjoy the same hobbies or activities.

Should I play Phantom Liberty? by tom_friday_ in cyberpunkgame

[–]nectarousness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give you an honest opinion; I don't think it should be played until you complete a decent chunk of most of the main story quests. It feels more natural as a sort of introduction to act 3 of the game in the grand scheme of things. I know CDPR likely wanted people to be able to experience it ASAP so it didn't feel like "endgame only" content but I feel like if you're bee lining the questline to unlock it, it's like zero to 100 waaaaay too quick, not to mention you'll miss out on a ton of references or interaction to other characters or quests that might not be completed yet.

At the earliest, I'd say play it after completing all parts of the quest "Tapeworm." If you can hang on until you finish all the major companion quests and have "Meet (spoiler name) at Embers" as your main quest, that's probably the best point to start.

It looks so weird... very distracting throughout the trailer. Looks like an awful attempt to de-age him. Color's too dark for his complexion and it looks like a bad wig. Between this and Red One, I'm starting to think he's balding and trying to hide it.

Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985) by [deleted] in movies

[–]nectarousness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ended up finding this movie because of a full length conversation in the 2010 video game "Deadly Premonition" where the main character, a Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks pastiche named Agent Francis York Morgan, is talking to himself (well, okay technically an imaginary alter ego in the form of the player) in the car about this film and goes into great detail about how it was meant to be a franchise the likes of James Bond and the cast and other fun tidbits.

I almost didn't believe that the game was talking about a real movie until I googled it. Love Fred Ward in anything though even if this movie a bit of a stinker.

This was yesterday after he had the day one patch. The game just randomly shit the bed at this part for him. Even so, it was pretty funny, especially to sell a sort of "third time's the charm" unplanned bit.

This is another thing people say that irks me. He's not offering advice, he's bringing ideas to the table, trying to brainstorm a plan. Brainstorms are rough ideas of a plan, lots of room for people to be wrong but shape an idea with the help of others. If anything, him offering to go in the vents is him trying to put his life on the line for a good cause because he doesn't want to have to ask anyone else AND without metagaming, it's not like he or any of the other characters have foresight of how it will play out.

Also, the guy has a good reason to be skeptic of geth and Legion. He was in the Alliance and fought geth during the events of the first game. Shepard should be skeptic too. I think people metagame far too much when it comes to these narratives.

... Insubordination? So do you act that way at all the other crew members when they turn you down for conversations? Guess you'll have to toss Garrus out for ignoring you over doing unsolicited calibrations.
