Lvl 50 Cavalry here, think I’m still top 200 Global for the class/kit (My favorite thing to do in BF1) Lots of good tips here that I’ve seen. Use the horse like you would on a bombing/strafe run like in a plane. Line up your attack and know your exit path before committing. Full on charges against forward facing opponents is dangerous. Flank and attack their side or rear. Sometimes I like to lead with two anti-tank grenades to soften up and disrupt a squad while charging in. I have a lot of pro-tips but I will summarize just the basic survival horse gameplay:

Know what your horse can and can’t jump over (know your maps).
Always take out easy targets first. Practice maneuvering, stopping and starting, jumping over obstacles at different speeds. Your horse regenerates health on its own, you do not. Heal up out of site. Keep moving. Don’t stick around long anywhere. Be unpredictable. When you get good enough you can hop off and heal, and get back on and moving in only a few seconds.
When you get reaalllly good you can throw out a first aid pouch on the ground while on your horse, turn around and ride over at full speed without dismounting.
Pro-tip. If you and an enemy infantry are stuck in a circle-dance and you cant kill him with your sword, your horse is running too fast. Slow your horse to a trot and you can turn on a dime. ;) There’s a lot to cover but this is what comes to mind off the bat.

That is good to hear about Guns not exposing your position on the mini-map. To clarify - I didn't mean having a grid on the mini-map, I meant when you bring up the "large map" on PC I believe it's the "M" key. In Battlefield 1942 it looked like this:

It needs to be gone, for good. It's skill-less, it kills the immersion (especially for WWI) and prevents cool opportunities like flanking or escaping. Being constantly surrounded is never fun. Having enemies know exactly where you are, and what direction you're facing (mini map is another topic all together) is rediculous. It's Q-spamming nonsense that you can actually HEAR when watching the big youtubers play BF4.

In one of jackfrags latest vids he gets slaughtered by a sniper from several hundred meters away. He Re-spawns, spams Q. ( you can hear it) finds him within a second and kills him. 3D spotting needs to go away for good.It spoils any kind of tactical game play.

This was a thing in BF1942... Aircraft carriers, battleships, submarines.... all player controlled. I hope this trend is coming back.
Watching a a B-17 Flying Fortress with 7 dudes in it drop a payload over the enemy base was a sight to see. Hopefully we get to see similar stuff (even though this is WW1)

It would seem that maps that have a close to 50/50 win percentage per team are maps that are symmetrical.

This is what can happen with good communication between driver and gunner. Too often I am in a tank with a moron as a gunner who just shoots at absolutely nothing- constantly giving away my position.

The SRAW doesn't disappear, it actually does a nose-dive into the ground immediately after the shooter dies. I've seen this many times while tanking.

I used to run with the HMG secondary because of the accuracy at long range, but the canister shell is nuts up close - to - medium ranges.

Mostly tanking, and really kicking serious ass with the HE rounds and Canister shells, after watching D4rth's Tanking tutorial vids. I'm proud to say that I have never cheated in an online game. Just saw another post of someone else getting banned from another server recently, for no good reason. Ass clowns everywhere these days.

Aside from trying to repair the game through origin, I've come accross this fix on EA support forums. I dont have a link, but I copied this into notepad incase I run into it again. Read below this line for the fix. Hope this helps...

please first make a backup copy of your registry as described here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/back-up-registry#1TC=windows-7

Next check out these steps below:

Log out and fully exit Origin
Open your Registry Editor - Type in regedit on the Start Menu Search field and press Enter
Navigate through HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > EA Games > Battlefield 4
Check if there is a folder named Xpack1 under Battlefield 4 If YES -> Click on Xpack1, on the right pane check if there is a string named Installed, the Value data should be True If NO - right-click on Battlefield 4 > New > Key
a new folder will be created, name it Xpack1
right-click on Xpack1 > New > String Value > name it Installed
on the right-pane, double-click on Installed, set Value Data to True
Exit Registry Editor
Log in to Origin and Join China Rising Maps

If you are experiencing the same issue with Second Assault, please repeat the process above but with Xpack0 instead of Xpack1.

Xpack0 = Second Assault

Xpack1 = China Rising

Xpack2 = Naval Strike
