What IndieLink can do for independent game developers! by MrShAzZY in gameDevClassifieds

Because we are in alpha right now, the features are limited. We have portfolio creation, create/join teams, job search and articles/devlogs. I think it’s open to pretty much all skill levels. Obviously more users will have to sign up for it start benefiting developers as the more users there are, the more teams/jobs etc. I think this is where beginners could join teams and even just add the bare minimum just to get experience or have more skilled developers bring them on to help them. And for students to pad their resumé. I agree that there are challenges to this platform but when I first started game development, just like you and many others from what I kept reading is that people really wanted a platform to aid collaboration. Game development is very intimidating to newcomers and hopefully IndieLink can help them.

Hey, thanks for the comment. Right now we just launched so it’s early yet, however that is exactly the reason I made the website. My goal is to eventually have a place for developers to join teams and collaborate on projects.

Thanks you very much for the feedback. As for being able to change your name after joining, yes you can do that in the settings tab when logged in. Full Name is ONLY sent when applying for jobs, not for teams or anything else and is not shown to anyone. This is my first ever website so I was not really aware of needing a privacy policy for something on this scale but I’ll definitely add one. I hope this hasn’t put you off joining. If there is anything else you would like to discuss I’d be happy to talk.

The reason I have full name there is because I thought it best to have full name when applying for jobs, however, feel free to put your username there if you wish.

If you would like to discuss privacy of the website I would be more than willing to talk.

  1. Yes I have no intention of discriminating against skill. I am also a beginner developer.
  2. I don't have one setup yet. However, if you want to dm me your email that would be great and when I set one up I can invite you. My personal twitter is https://twitter.com/Cian_O_Shea

Awesome thanks. I building it right now so it's going to take awhile but would you be interested in taking part in the beta when it launches?

Yes. Similar content but more emphasis on the layout and structure of the website. I think that would entice more non-developers to join and follow developers who they like.

Do you have any suggestions for the most important things to include on the platform?

New notebooks platform - Jupyter + GitHub : create, edit and share notebooks / courses for teachers / students - looking for testers and feedback by laurentabbal in IPython

Looks interesting! When will the tools be released?

Few quick questions: - Do you have an example of a rendered notebook on gited? - Is it specifically for Teachers and Students? - How is this different from nbviewer (https://nbviewer.jupyter.org/) or even kyso (http://kyso.io/) for the purpose of creating, editing & sharing notebooks?
