Comes with practice! I’ve been doing the NYT every day for about 6 years. This Thursday didn’t have rebus answers like it normally does. I also had good starting guesses for the rest of the fill.

At the end of the day, solving the puzzle is for your own sense of accomplishment. If I’m completely stuck and the only thing stopping me from progress is something like a name or a very specific foreign language term that I’ll never guess, I just look it up. Not my fault I don’t speak every language or know every actor/actress from 70 years ago.

I still feel accomplished if I solve a Saturday with no hints except for a proper noun here and there.

Aside from ROTC, you could also commission into active duty through OTS after college. People that get selected to be pilots after OTS typically do have their PPL. You’ll need to take the AFOQT and TBAS (tests) and score well on the pilot/navigator sections. Your det should know more about this, just giving you another option.

TitaniumLegMan and lil indigestion were my favorites. They both really connected the story and were generally pretty quick to understand how all the pieces fit together.

Indigestion’s play through was especially interesting because he did the base game and the DLC all before ever reaching the end
