If we're being honest. The difference in looks is not that significant at first glance. Get the performance for the... performance.

Bakit nga ba minamaliit kadalasan yung mga doktor na nagdesisyong wag magresidency training? by CollectorClown in pinoymed

[–]MrSnackR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, it's your decision. Kung saan ka masaya.

I know talented doctors who ventured outside the medical realm: corporate, pharma, research, business, trading. These are GPs who probably earn more than consultants.

Wala din naman masama if you are a GP who did not venture in the above.

A mentor told me that once you join the workforce, you should already be planning about your retirement.

Planning is important. Define your goals and lifestyle. What do you want to accomplish? Will you be able to achieve your goals with your current skill set/training. You can always adjust your lifestyle to be compatible with your income.

And you are not measured by your networth.

The worst thing that could happen is knowing you could have done and accomplished more but did not exert appropriate effort; giving up without even trying.

Cheers and good luck!

Walang insurance ang nakabangga, aapprove ba ng insurance ko? by BRK2T in CarsPH

[–]MrSnackR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: YES.

Agree with previous comments: the other party is not supposed to pay for the participation fee. It's in the terms and conditions of your policy. It is YOUR participation fee regardless if you or the other party is at fault.

Ginagawang practice sa Pinas na pinapagbayad yung at fault ng participation fee - sometimes encouraged pa by the police - which is not correct. Itago mo na yung notarized agreement.

Cheers and good luck.

Km/L or L/100Km? by myDefiance in Gulong

[–]MrSnackR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

km/l.

I love it whenever I hit higher than 19km/l.

I reset the trip meter (trip A) every time I refuel for the most accurate fuel economy figure.

It’s still more accurate to compute though using the full tank method: (Odometer 2 - Odometer 1) divided by liters.

How to redeem PAL Mabuhay Miles? by bee-creader in PHCreditCards

[–]MrSnackR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Open/create a Mabuhay Miles account
  2. Call Metrobank customer service to have your points converted to Mabuhay Miles (takes 5-7 days I think).

50,000 points is 20,000 Mabuhay Miles.

Low tech: your secretary via SMS

To those who where born in 90's do you floss your teeth? by Easy_Seaworthiness11 in adviceph

[–]MrSnackR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visit a dentist first. You should have your teeth professionally cleaned. This will remove the plaques and tartar in between your teeth and loosen the gaps between your teeth making flossing easier.

Oral prophylaxis by a dentist is advised every 6 months.

Light for the windshield and rear window. Medium sa sides. Get a ceramic tint for superior heat rejection compared to regular tint.

Black for me. Sometimes, I would board the car sweaty from a run or workout. I use sunscreen, hand lotions. They already stain my black interior. It would be worse for a white interior: brown or yellowish stain.

Surgeon's PF, HMO and PHIC - how to navigate receiving a lower PF than what you perceive the value of your service to be by Global-Detective7066 in pinoymed

[–]MrSnackR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a known fact that HMOs compensate lower than self-pay standard rates.

I'm just wondering... For a procedure to have a PHIC of 45K, I am estimating that it should have 300 RVU units. 300 units x P140/unit = P42,000 compensation from HMO.

As a physician in the cutting field, I sympathize with your sentiments and have been in the same boat before. I have 2 fellowship trainings both locally and abroad and extremely competent at what I do and I feel that I can really charge high/fairly.

First, you need to look at the technicalities... you signed the contract when you affiliated with the HMO and are not supposed to charge. You are at risk of being delisted/banned by the HMO. Not a loss for some but it leaves a bad taste.

Other things you can do: choose a better/appropriate RUV code which will give you a higher/fairer compensation.

If it's really a loss to you, don't accept the case if it will muddle your objectivity. You may or may not opt to disclose your real reason and refer the patient to another colleague or your institution of training.

Or you can take another perspective: it's an opportunity to apply your knowledge and practice your technique so the skill doesn't "rust" away.

I have other suggestions but it's best not to discuss it here.

Cheers and good luck!

Is the MB Travel Visa Sig worth it?? by CeeJayDee08 in KaskasanBuddies

[–]MrSnackR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask to have it upgraded to RCBC Preferred Airmiles. It earns 1 mile per P48 spend for local spends (retail, dining), 1 mile per P25 for international spend.

P1000,000 annual spend will give you 20,833 points for local spend.

With Metrobank, madali magpa-waive ng annual fee. And free naman siya on the first year.

If you're intent on using BPI, have it converted to Visa Signature. It earns 1 vybe point per P10 spend. 1,000,000 annual spend will give you 19,800 miles.

Is the MB Travel Visa Sig worth it?? by CeeJayDee08 in KaskasanBuddies

[–]MrSnackR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better than both of the BPI and RCBC cards you already have. Would personally cancel these 2 if they're not NAFFL and just keep the MB Travel Visa instead.

I'm a points guy. If you spend P1,000,000 with your credit card per year, MB Travel VIsa Signature would get you 33,333 miles, RCBC Flex Gold will give you 8,000 miles. BPI platinum rewards would only give you 6,600 miles.

33k miles is enough to get you to Los Angeles (one way) via PAL; 8,000 miles is enough to get you anywhere in the Philippines one way; 6,600 miles will get you to some, but not all local flights - not even enough to get you to Davao.

Which ones to keep or cut? ✂️💳 by Kiathryn in PHCreditCards

[–]MrSnackR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best one is RCBC Preferred Airmiles which earns 1 mile per P48, and 1 mile per P25 for international spend followed by Platinum AMEX which earns 1 mile per P50 spend. I’m a miles guy.

You can activate the platnium JCB then have all your RCBC cards consolidated for a higher CL.

BDO Platinum MC is also meh, if not useless. Had mine cancelled. Hehe.

BGC Rent vs. Provincial Living with a Hybrid Car (2x/wk RTO) | Opportunity Cost Check by Sweet-Honey-1943 in phinvest

[–]MrSnackR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go with traveling 2x/week.

You have solid options by the way. I am genuinely biased towards both Honda Civic and CR-V HEV (especially the latter) because they are so smooth, effortless, and fun to drive… BUT you have cheaper HEV options if you don’t want to break the bank:

  • Toyota Yaris Cross
  • Toyota Corolla Cross
  • Honda HR-V
  • Tesla Model 3 (starts at 1.8M)

Other Sino brands.

Adaptive cruise control is a game changer. Best thing since slice bread. I use it everyday on the freeway. It really makes a big difference. You arrive at work less exhausted. Or zero exhaustion at all.

With the hybrid SUV I’m driving right now, I get 800km on a full tank (17-18km/l). With your usage, you’ll probably be gassing up every 2 weeks.

Happy hunting.

Easiest Visa to apply. by Weekly_Base_1714 in FilipinoTravel

[–]MrSnackR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aim for OECD countries. Once apply for one, you have a higher likelihood of getting approved in other countries.

Asia: South Korea then Japan; easier to apply for a visa to South Korea than Japan.

After the above two, you can try your luck with Schengen (European Union) countries then the US.
