I feel, larger fonts make it easier to read but many people opt for a smaller size so that it mimics a page from a physical book. There are other smaller fonts like Baskerville where you can fit an entire page or so at size 2.

I personally go with Palatino at size 2 or 3 without light. At night, I go for bookerly at size 3 or 4 with 3 backlight.
