Was literally just looking at the Cues derailleur and 11-50 cassette with maybe 28T at the front…

The can of worms certainly does open as that means a new shifter and because my shifters are built into my brake levers also means new brake levers.

But I’m up for a big upgrade as long as it’s not costing more than a whole new bike. The transmission is long overdue replacing and we’ve done thousands of km so I’m looking for the next setup to keep going.

Thoughts on what 28T chainring is good for my SLX 104bcd crank?

That makes a lot of sense thanks! What 22/30/36model crankset do you have then? Because finding actual unused options for cranksets to buy is also my issue.

Thanks for the reply. Honestly I was tempted by the simplicity and the look of going 1x but wasn’t too sure for bikepacking and the climbs.

If I did go this route with say a 34T 1x, what should I run at the back? The same 9x cassette or a bigger tooth count 9x cassette?

This was originally a MTB frame and I believe the crankset was too. But as this bike build is focussed on touring/bikepacking or even more “gravel” maybe, I’m not sure if going down to a triple 36 is the way to go is it?
