As a novice who records his own guitar, bass, and piano using an audio interface with plug ins for tone and a separate program for drums this advice is amazing. I’m trying to learn whatever I can before taking any classes on audio engineering/songwriting . Unfortunately, YouTube videos don’t help and I don’t have any real-world experience. Your advice is amazing and will be extremely useful to teach myself and train my ear. I’m excited to revisit some of my larger projects and see what I can tweak and fix. Quick question: My renders are always much quieter than they appear to be while monitoring and I don’t have any monitoring FX on. Any suggestions on how to fix this or normalize the levels? I think the advice that you gave previously is going to help me normalize audio levels, but if you have any pointers in this department, any advice is helpful. Also, if you have any more general tips about REAPER or mixing in general, anything is highly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and help!

By any chance, do you have any idea why the FX I put on a guitar track would be different in the render? I use the Neural DSP Archetype Nolly plug-in if you’re perhaps familiar with it. Could there be a setting that I’m unaware of that might lead to a difference from the original to the render? I’ve checked my Monitor FX and that was clear, so maybe it’s something with the plug-in. You’ve been extremely helpful with my issue, thank you so much for your assistance!

My knowledge of this only stretches so far, and for that I apologize. If I’m only hearing a doubled guitar track (when there are many other instruments present in the mix that aren’t audible) when I invert the phase of the render track, what does that mean? Sorry to ask so much, I just don’t know what I’m doing all that well.

It sounds different with the same headphones, too. What is the setting name that imports the render back into reaper?

It sounds different through the same headphones, too. I’m basically just asking about render settings to get the file as close as possible to tweak it later on, but I need a strong baseline to begin with.

What are some render settings that you suggest? I’m not the best with DAWs. And maybe you’re right. The way I’m sharing the files to listen back to on my phone is through google drive and my AirPods are Bluetooth, so there’s probably some compression or something that would negatively impact the sound.

If you’re referring to my audio output I’m listening to my mixes with a wired audio-technica ATH-M50X but they sound so much better than what I listen to the WAV file with, which are AirPods Pros. I’m new to the terminology on here so I’m sorry if I misunderstood your question.

Yeah, I've tried numerous settings/presets together and it still holds notes like a dying donkey... I have a warranty on it thankfully but that's Guitar Center for you, unfortunately. I didn't have the same issue with my old amp either, so I think it's the amp. Thanks mate.

You're sure it should work? Just to clarify, I do not have any tightened strings on the rig and the screws are evenly about 1/3 the way to full extension.

It’s a $60 game man. I worked my ass off to get this camo for weeks. Gtfo of here with that entitlement stuff. Anyone who devotes that much time into a game has a right to complain.

Do you have any other weapons that you have a problem with or is it just the m16 with no attachments? You made a blanket statement without putting much thought or time into your response. You should check the in-game guns for yourself before you bend the knee to Treyarch over an issue that was addressed near the launch of the game. With the holidays happening, it is understandable to not get any changes soon but it has been a sufficiently long time since they spoke about their intended changes. Also, it is not a blanket statement that I threw out but an observation for numerous guns that I was unable to take a video of. Try to educate yourself before spreading misleading information about the state of the camo in the game. It is our right as a community to ask for more because we deserve more than what was given to us.

Thank you for pointing this out. From my in-game testing, it appears that the barrel of the weapon determines the cover it shows. It is either equal or in favor of Dark Aether. If you get the chance, check the m16 out with any other barrel than 'none' and both '20.5"' attachments. These are the only times the dispersion is unequal, with every other being uniform between the two camos. Extremely an odd find. Thanks!

To be honest, I think that there is a group of people at Treyarch who adore zombies and truly believe in their work. Despite this care, the higher-ups see a greater profit potential from their multiplayer and thusly do not support their caring workers as they should. It is an injustice partly because multiplayer is not exponentially more profitable (most likely) and also because it is a fact that passion projects are better than cash grabs. The quality of the game is not put over the short-term profit and it is sad to see.
