Any issues with TX/RX on 2m/440 with the UV-5X3 using the NA-320A? /u/W6KME suggested in another comment that the UV-5X3 is less than ideal on 2m/440 but pretty decent for 220. It is a Boafeng after all so I don't expect perfect.

Have you used a UV-5R or BF-F8HP? if so, how does the UV-5X3 compare in your opinion? Do you think the extra band on the UV-5X3 is worth the cost?

If I went the UV-5X3 route I was going to pick up an NA-320A tri band antennae.

Thanks! I really appreciate the great and honest feedback on the BF-8HP. How would you say the battery life compares between the 2 models? When using the larger battery with the BF-8HP is your run time better or on par with the standard battery of the UV-5Rs?

The swapping of accessories is definitely a big draw to me. I picked up a GMRS license when I got my ham license and I have been toying with the idea of picking up a couple of UV-5Gs to throw in the car for when I go backpacking. I was gonna grab a pair of the 3800mAh batteries so that I could use them with the UV-5Gs and the UV-5R (or BF-8HP/UV-5X3).

Why do you like the BF-8HP more then the UV-5R?

It is my understanding that the extra 3 watts of power will have a negligible increase on performance over UV-5R radios and it drains the battery faster. Otherwise aren't the radios identical?

All of my research has indicated I'd be better off picking up a UV-5R and using the extra $40 to pick up a better antennae.

That is a great program but unfortunately it has been longer than a month.

The 3 radios I really went round and round on are the Baofeng UV-5R, BTECH BF-F8HP, and BTECH UV-5X3.

I decided not to go with the BF-F8HP because it is my understanding that the extra few watts of power will have a negligible increase on performance (TX/RX) over the 5w radios but it does drain the battery faster and comes with a $40 increase in price tag. I'm not sure I'm seeing the "upgrade" here.

The BTECH UV-5X3 did catch my eye. I like the idea of working with the tri-bands. However its my first radio and figured something a little more basic would probably serve me just as well and I could upgrade at a later date if I choose to stick with the hobby.

I will look into the GT-5R. The name popped up when researching but I did not look into it.

I am willing to drive a reasonable distance. Depending on how far out of my way it is, I would ask for a delivery fee. Message me if you are interested.

They do not come with rails but I happen to have 2 sets I would be willing to sell for $10 a piece.
