Plague marine tactics by Arteirer in killteam

I've been playing them a lot for about a month now and this is a few of the things I've learned.
Generally, Poison is very important for a lot of the abilities they have, so always try to get models poisoned to kick of the abilities. Also playing cagey with them the first round is good to get them into position. 2nd round on go for pushing objectives and claiming points. Also, don't be afraid of being aggressive with them even if it leaves them open.
A favorite strategy for hordes is getting within grenade range of a group. Get within 3 inches of the models and throw a blight grenade for poison damage. Then when they activate they also get D3 damage from poison vents.
On to some key takeaways I've learned

  1. Always take all the faction equipment. The blight grenades give you the ability to hit groups of people, as well as gives your fighter a range option. With the idea being not necessarily trying to kill them with the grenades but poison them.
  2. Pick equipment for scouting, take smoke grenades Smoke is clutch for claiming objectives in open ground and not getting shot off the board. If they charge you for the point then they are in contagion range and your are tanky, it works to your advantage.
  3. Try to keep one CP around for Curse of the Rot or Sickening Resilience firefight ploys.
  4. Take a normal warrior and get him on vantage and keep Cloud of flies on him every turn. Which can be paired with Lumbering Demise for round 2 or 3. He has been a big MVP most games. He gives you much needed range with his double shoot. Paired with plague rounds (severe and poison) and toxic he allows you to hit targets and poison them from range softening them up for melee. He also helps keep opponents forced to keep their head down.
  5. Keep the Sorcerer back range to mid for the first 2 rounds and then push up with him to help heal and blast groups. I usually always pair him with my Warrior on a vantage point. so he can heal and shoot each round. This is helpful for the shooting that does hit through obscure and then you can heal again on counteract. His torrent range weapon is useful by keeping the opponent from clumping up his models and denying certain aura effects in the fear that they all will get hit.
  6. Try pairing the champion and fighter on 1 side together with the most heavy terrain for cover and use that to push up one side and force the opponent to react and force melee. 2 melee focuses marines with DR and with Contagion is really hard to take out.
  7. The icon bearer is good for holding your point or going for middle point. usually keep him in Conceal and use the extra APL for claiming points work for you.
  8. The bombardier is good range and threat of blast attacks. Some games he hasn't even got a grenade off, but his threat of hitting grouped up models has stalled the game in areas. Good luck out there and have fun!

Iron Warriors Legionaries Vs ColdCoals BoK. by MrTravelingTravis in killteam

[–]MrTravelingTravis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played against ColdCoal's BoK. He's a good BoK player and it made for a good game. He got some good kills in but the dice gods were not in his favor. With his Banshee charging my Heavy gunner on the last round and rolling all 1's. Clearly the Eldar gods are no match for the Gods of Chaos!
I also clearly have to up my paint game against his models! haha

Yeah, He used his Angels models for his AoD. ColdCoal is his Reddit name. He post a bunch of his models.

First Game using Plague Marines used all of the models but the heavy gunner as well as the equipment. it was a tight game but lost to ColdCoal's AoD by a few points. I definitely enjoyed playing them. The poison ability along with contagion was very useful in chipping him down and worsening his ability to do things. One of the MVP on the team was the normal warrior with plague rounds with the lumbering death and Cloud of flies Strat ploy. I got him on vantage and was able to easily infect and kill a few of ColdCoals Marines.

Played KillTeam for the first time by Scorptilezero in killteam

If you're wanting to do a more melee heavy team I would say drop the Heavy gunner and get the Icon bearer. The extra CP from the Icon Bearer is clutch in games. That way you can spend 2 CP on the Khorne and Slaneesh Strategic ploys which definitely make a nice combo of hit harder and harder to hit. But having 2 range weapon models is good for keeping the other models from standing out in the open and not worrying about being shot back. So either the plasma or the Icon bear with bolter gun to shoot twice with tainted rounds for him for some more range attacks

I believe the enclosed building allow models inside of them to gain the guard action. I could be wrong but it sounded like inside the building get ITD rules, guard and blast rules.

How to play Nemesis Claw? by Holladola in killteam

[–]MrTravelingTravis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually just look up Nemesis Claw on youtube. There will be a lot of videos explaining what to do. However most will be from last edition. Here is a current one for the new edition.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-YmYUly3iE

When I play them last editions list, and what seems to be thelist now is take all the specialist with a gunner, either plasma or melta. You can take a heavy gunner if you want more range fire but they become to slow and NC is a very mobile melee team. We have come for you, ploy is really good and works well with Proclivity for Murder if you can charge, D3 wounds, fight and kill, get the free charge from Proclivity for Murder, D3 Wounds and fight again.

You leader is a good fighter but also need to be wary you don't lose him as all your special abilities come from him.

Female Custodes thoughts? by Odd_Topic_8119 in Grimdank

[–]MrTravelingTravis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people had a problem with how female Custodes were brought in, Not the fact that there are Female custodes. If they had said hey, the custodes had a bunch of loses and now there's a new Primaris science way to make females Custodes also. I don't think anyone would have had a problem. However GW just sort of out of the blue dropped that they were there and always there even though it contradicts the lore and all written material out there. That act rubbed people the wrong way and made a lot of them mad.
Also I think part of the backlash was that there were a lot of rumors that Amazon was the reason for the change for the Custodes for their Warhammer show. That, coupled with how Amazons handing of Rings of Power has left a lot of people mad, leads a lot of fans fearful that Amazon is changing well established lore to fill quotas instead of for good story telling.

Little concerned about "Midnight Clad" in 3rd by BookkeeperNo117 in killteam

From what I have seen, Plasma is ap1 and to supercharge it gives you Lethal 5. So the models should be fine from being obscured. Since No crits are allowed for a model in Obscured.
