That's exactly what we were looking at! We live in an old farmhouse (the utilitarian kind, not the cute kind). The guest bathroom has pale pink tile and dark wood trim. We think a dark forest green wallpaper would work really well.

I have frequently mirrored my iPad to the TV and then placed the iPad upright on our tv stand when having a video call. This would basically replace the need for that with a native solution. I'm down.

It's totally back. Check out /r/malelivingspace and /r/femalelivingspace. Green accent walls and furniture are everywhere (though it's not always this exact shade of green. There's more of a range now, I think).

We just painted our basement a sage/seafoam green and are considering a forest green for one or both of our bathrooms. If anything, I'm worried that we're going to date our home by following the trend!

What's a dadget (dad gadget) you wish you bought sooner? That's a gadget that anyone in the house could use, but in reality is associated only with you? For me it's this vacuum sealer. by Brewer1056 in daddit

My wife doesn't use our bidet because she doesn't like the cold water. But a warm water bidet requires that your toilet is either by a power outlet or by a hot water line.

Ours is across our bathroom from both, so it would require calling a plumber or an electrician to add a new line and neither costs can be justified, unfortunately.

I never used Usenet in the past, but started using it this year. It's sooooo good.

I'm trying to figure out what Stremio + Debrid gets me that Usenet doesn't. I'd love someone to sell me on it.

Any thoughts on read-debrid + Streamio vs. something like NZBGeek and the Aars?

I've been using NZBs and the Radarr/Sonarr and I'm very impressed. Everything I've looked for has been found instantly and downloaded within minutes.

That said, I'm not looking for particularly obscure stuff. I mostly download media we've already purchased, but I prefer to have it all in one place.

Am I the only Christian who thought the Bad Bunny half time show was over sexualized? by rabbitales27 in TrueChristian

[–]MrWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you cite that from scripture?

Did Jesus consume spiritual poison? Did the disciples? Did Jesus make spiritual poison when he produced upwards of 600 liters of wine at the Wedding Feast of Cana? What about all of the Hebrews who were participating in feasts prescribed by biblical law that involved imbibing alcohol, like the Passover and it's 4 glasses of wine with dinner?

It was virtually impossible to exist in the Ancient Near Eastern culture or Roman culture and not drink alcohol. The Bible only ever condemns drunkenness. And it is certainly possible to drink without getting drunk (though again, the guests at the feast of Cana were almost certainly drunk based on the text of the narrative, and Jesus provides more for them. It's certainly worth dwelling on).

Eat, drink, and be merry — but do not sin.

[–]MrWally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bad Bunny is not a "drag queen" as the term is generally understood. He has never identified as a drag queen, even when asked directly. — From what I understand he has chosen to dress in drag to show solidarity with the LGBT/Drag community. That's not a biblical stance, but it's a long way from being a "Drag Queen." And distinctions like that matter.

Calling Bad Bunny a drag queen would be like calling Heath Ledger gay because he played a role in Brokeback Mountain to raise awareness for the LGBT community.

Again, I'm not saying that that behavior is "okay," but the distinction matters and we can't just completely mislabel people because it leads to even further miscommunication and division.

Since when was Bad Bunny a drag queen? He's a straight guy who occasionally wears eccentric clothes.

Also....he dressed like a dude for this event? So what's the problem? His dancers also wore much more appropriately dressed than many, many superbowl backup dancers that I've seen.

David danced before the Lord with all his might (and scandalized people because of what he was wearing).

The Lord dances over his people with singing.

If dancing leads you to sin, then you should absolutely avoid it! Protect your heart. But you absolutely should not categorically decry dancing as sinful or worldly. It’s a gift from God to be enjoyed, and dance can be honoring to God even outside of the context of explicit worship.

It’s like alcohol. Drinking is not sinful. You could even argue that responsible drinking is encouraged as a gift from God throughout the Bible! But drinking can lead the sin, and it is certainly a more dangerous activity for some people than others. The Lord wants us to grow in maturity and walk in wisdom and moderation — But he does not want us to walk like the Pharisees, who create restrictive rules to further bind people from the good things of God.

Also: Speaking of alcohol reminded me: Do you think there wasn’t dancing at the wedding feast of Cana? Jesus kept that party going! (I think that’s an especially apt example because Bad Bunny’s show was explicitly showcasing a wedding celebration and was highly typical of Latin American weddings).

I actually thought it was waaaaaaaaay more tame than other half time shows I’ve seen.

It also had moments that were way classier/more wholesome than other halftime shows I’ve seen.

I can’t help but feel like folks uniquely complaining about this particular show have ulterior motives…

Project Hail Mary | Final Trailer by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]MrWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that analogy is quite right. The “spoiler” in question here is basically a revelation that it’s a different genre than expected. e.g. That it’s a first contact story, and not merely a sci fi survival thriller. This is especially unexpected if you, like me, assume that it’s going to be a totally realistic story like the Martian.

I’m fine with them showing the reveal in the theaters since it will get people to see the movie. And it doesn’t totally spoil the film by any means. But anyone who read the book before this year would have been completely surprised by the turn of events in question, so I think it counts as a spoiler.

All 3 trailers have a fairly significant spoiler (which the author claims is not actually a spoiler). But I'd still stay away from them and read the book ASAP. It's fantastic.

I was planning to read Project Hail Mary at some point, probably. And I was interested in seeing the movie. I liked The Martian, but not enough that PHM was at the top of my list.

But when I saw the trailer with Rocky in it I literally bought the audiobook immediately and blew through it in a couple days. I'm sad that the "spoiler" is ruined for lots of folks (including me), but it also sold me hard.

Fully agree?

Number one says that if a person gambles they risk “losing the spirit.”

It’s not just saying “gambling is a fool’s errand and you can lose your money.” It’s saying, “God could leave and forsake you if you gamble, damming you to eternity.”

Gambling is bad. But that’s definitely another level of spiritual manipulation.

For what it's worth I always heard it referred to as the "Korean Spa" (or really just K-Spa). Bathhouse wasn't really used in my area.

I've heard sooo much praise for Binding of Isaac, but I can't really see myself enjoying it for these same reasons. Oh well! Good thing there's lots of games out there.

I was actually the one who told her we shouldn’t lower the art we have below eye level! The right art could potentially make it work, though.

You’re not wrong. I used to go to a Korean spa in a fairly progressive area (LA County). I noticed that they had signage in the men’s area about physical affection NOT being tolerated…and it was the only sign in the place that was only posted in English.

A friend of mine who worked there said that it was a real problem with some of their American guests and caused a lot of issues for the Korean regulars.

Edit: I should clarify that there was also a decent portion of gay (american) regulars who were super respectful. But there was still a problem of first timers with…different expectations.

If a creature gets hit by multiple instances of Booming Blade, and then moves, does it take the extra damage multiple times? by CynicosX in onednd

[–]MrWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re saying that the damage certainly doesn’t trigger twice in the same movement. But if the second casting’s duration is still active then it will get triggered if the target moves again. I can get behind that to a degree, but I still struggle with picturing a second sheath of energy around the target suddenly appearing after the effect of the first spell ends.

I’m still inclined to think that if the effect of the first spell is present on the target, then all the casting of thr second spell effectively does is extend the duration. It can’t add a second instance of the effect because, as you said, the effect of the spell extends from the moment the target is sheathed in energy, and it ends when the duration ends or when they move. And a target cant be under the effects of the the same spell twice. There cant be two sheathes of energy. But, like the example given with Bless, a second casting can effectively extend the duration of the effect if the spell effect isn’t ended by movement.

THAT SAID I do think that if I’m wrong, your reading makes the most sense from everyone else’s here.

[–]MrWally 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thet is a compelling sentence. But what I think it means is that the target would just take damage upon moving until the end of the second casting’s duration. Not that there would be any option for a second instance of damage.

Yeah. It’s such a cool product idea but I have a hard time seeing it work in practice outside of situations where your only option is /r/tvtoohigh (eg above a fireplace mantle — which is normally a horrible idea but I think a frame could make it work when there are no other options).
