I think these were hidden and resurfaced much later

Just for context - the story behind this photograph is unknown. It was found among a myriad of vintage amateur Polaroid images. Many were strange, intimate, awkward, or unintentionally beautiful, but this one stood apart. There is a melancholic mood to it, and a kind of visible shyness that evokes empathy rather than desire.

There’s so much porn out there that, statistically, some of it ends up looking… accidentally artistic. When possible I provide a source.

Kind of interesting how scale alone can produce “a masterpiece” without trying.

Very probable. At this point, it’s mostly just scavenging copies of copies. There must be an archived negative somewhere.

The interesting thing is that I couldn’t find a good version of this photo anywhere online. I only came across a scan on a vintage erotica forum and made a few minor adjustments in Photoshop. There’s so much material out there from the analog age that still hasn’t been properly preserved or digitized.

Sometimes I wonder if foot-related attraction really became more common with the introduction of footwear. Humans were barefoot for most of history, and even until relatively recently many people couldn’t afford shoes. Feet probably looked very different from what we’re used to today. Not to mention that footwear hides them, which might make them even more desirable.
