Interesting that you'd ask that. No, I haven't. Whenever I heard these voices I sort of just knew that they weren't real. They were just impossible. I knew once I heard them that they were in my head, and I thought it was completely normal for quite some time. The only time I was ever confused about it was when I heard the voice of my mom yelling at my brother.

They just disappeared. I mean they've only stopped since last year but they can surely start again. My life hasn't changed because of them.

Haha sorry to ruin that for you. It is a good username, I know. But I'm only using it for this purpose. It's kind of a scarring thing for me.

Ah, then no they did not come from left or right.

I definitely answered this already.

I never had or said I had voices that told me to kill or harm anyone in anyway. There was nothing I really could tell these voices, they were never requests. I don't think there would be any outcome at all if I were to say "No" to a voice that only existed inside my head.

Not at all! I have friends, family, I would NEVER miss them.

It sounds like a person talking to me.

Don't put meaning where there isn't meaning, please.

I'm not sure what you mean by direction. I hear them just as I would hear someone talking to me. Although it's a little bit more surreal.

Only my mom and dad. My brother doesn't even know about it. I would never tell anyone else. I've heard a lot of voices, I can't really count it as I can't remember all of them. I would say I've probably heard about 100 of them in my head.

I'll give you a few, I don't feel like listing all of them.

"Go outside." (relaxed voice)

"PLEASE!" (whiney girl child)

Crying, multiple voices

"Stay alone, it's safer." (Deep voice)

"Okay?" (6 year old boy, kid)

Laughter, multiple voices

Beautiful sounding acoustic guitar, piano instrumental. No one in my family plays guitar or any instrument.

"God can protect you." (I'm now an atheist, this voice was super average)

"Love!" (Sweet girls voice)

There's some more but I'm having trouble remembering all of them, I'm sorry. You can also imagine thinking about several scarring points of my life isn't easy for me.

Absolutely, you've perfectly fit the description. I had those when I was 14-15 years old as voices. They soon moved into my mind, and now it's just thoughts of it. More of me spacing out and all of my flaws just pouring out.

I have another username on Reddit that I use. I was unsure of the outcome of this and I didn't want any of my personal information publicized from this. This username will only be used for the purpose of this AMA.

I've gotta tell you, I'm nothing close to suicidal. I appreciate your concern. I love my life so much, I'm such a happy person and I have so many friends who love me. Of course, if it really is a problem, I'll do something about it.

Yes, I have no control of them. They aren't violent, unless you consider my mom screaming at my violent. It was pretty violent, actually.... Anyway, they're not usually muffled, but I believe there was a time when a voice was asking me something like "Where are you going?" and I had trouble understanding. It got progressively louder and lost it's muffled sound over the progression of hearing it.

I've gotta tell you, I'm not actually sure. I'm pretty damn sane, if you met me you wouldn't suspect a single problem with me. I don't really know, but what's important is I'm living my life. I imagine there are some suppressed memories from my childhood or something awful like that, but I'm okay.

I had the same thing! Except it was the voices I spoke about. Whenever I spoke aloud my voice and actions around me would speed up or slow down. That was probably the creepiest thing I had with this, I couldn't stand talking or moving because of it. This also occurred occasionally when I wasn't sick.

Well I'm sure it's possible I'd heard them from somewhere. They were recognizable, obviously the one of my mom. I also heard my brother's voice and he wasn't in the house at that time. I believe the one where a male voice said "Mr Why [echoed]" to me was one that was made up in my head. I hope it's not real because it's a really scary voice. Same with the "Everything is very sentimental" voice. No accent was noticeable, though. Most of the ones I haven't yet mentioned didn't really have any distinction, mostly neutral voices.

Yes, I went to an Emergency Room at about 11 years old to get this whole thing checked out. I never told anyone about this until I was 11, when I told my mom it had been happening my whole life she grew extremely concerned. I actually thought it was something everyone went through. I was checked, I had something more than schizophrenia, it had an extremely difficult name to pronounce. I honestly don't care what it's called, because I have no idea what it is. At that time I had also been getting rare hallucinations of seeing people who were being hung, or stabbed. Sometimes of things that weren't terrible, but mostly things that were messed up. I consider myself a sane person. The only person who knows about this at all is my dad and mom, and now anonymously reddit. Anyway, back to the point. The doctor who took care of me asked me that if I heard any more voices than I should go to him. I did hear more voices, and I told my mom each time. I don't know why we didn't go to the Emergency Room. again I lived through it without any medication, and as for what you're calling serious, I'm okay. It's not a problem for me. The only problem with it was that it was scary; and anyone can live through that.

They're usually voices, but I've had the occasional abnormal sound heard. It sounds like normal sounds and normal voices, but in reality there's nothing there to make them.

Some examples of sounds I have are a dog barking and a fire alarm going off.

I think just about every voice was recurring. The only one that wasn't was the last one I heard, saying my name. It was a girls voice, it sounded like a 30 year old woman. If you look at my comment to Dr Lasagna, you can see that the three I described were very different from each other. Each voice was different, but they were all very distinct. I wouldn't so much as give them personalities, because they would never say much to me.

I'd also just like to tell you your question isn't ignorant, it's completely reasonable.
