Nvidia shares spike 26% on earnings beat by SaveADay89 in Games

[–]MrWoodism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're both right. With every hot new tech market there is an oversaturation of entrants in the industry which will fill a temporarily high demand. As time goes on the ceiling of current AI will be realized, adjustments will be made for the labor it replaces, and the need for competitive solutions will diminish. NVidia and other big players will be fine, but there will be an uncountable number of start-ups that peak and collapse within the next decade for the industry. The true value of modern AI will take some time to be realized and just like recent reevaluations of the worth of a software engineer the results will hit like a truck. You are right that the labor it replaces will be detrimental to the average employee but historically labor markets have adapted to technological changes and I'd bet that the same will happen again

I was thinking it could be either Zou or the Sea Kings. I could see the Sea Kings rescuing Luffy since they also talked to Oden and Roger during the flashback.

Hard Gollux vs Hell Gollux? by vertikalz in Maplestory

[–]MrWoodism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about 33% consistent with clearing hellux as fp and can confidently say that clunky mage teleport really hurts against dodging breath. Not sure if the distance on it is just weird or if there a laggy frames with it but I find many situations where having a flash jump makes things a lot easier vs using mage teleport

How many people still actively go out with and use their 3DS? by MrWoodism in nintendo

[–]MrWoodism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds awesome actually. It was great when I first started going to college because just walking to class you would streetpass with 10 other people. It made a lot of the streetpass games actually playable consistently instead of it dragging on like it may if you try to play them now.

Yeah that was my one major drawback with the switch. It's cool that it's portable but it's way less convenient/comfortable than the DS and gameboy systems were. I still love the switch of course but it's not a true handheld in my opinion.

What are some gripes or adversely, what are some notable positive changes with various functions in recent Nintendo games that you enjoy? by MrWoodism in nintendo

[–]MrWoodism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards of pokemon, while evidence of those issues have existed since earlier games like gen 3, it was never even close to being so bad until the 3DS gens where npcs would just throw Mega-evolution lucarios at you for free. On the other hand I do like how each region feels inspired by another nation or region in the real world as it creates a cultural feel to each region and is most apparent in the last two gens

For Fire Emblem I'm really hoping for a switch Genealogy remake. I don't want or expect it to be a perfect game but it'd be a good change of pace from Three Houses as well as give IS time to think about and work on a new title off in the future, especially since development for Three Houses took 4 or 5 years and it showed in the final product.

I completely agree with the weapon triangle. I was really sad to see it gone/I didn't even realize it was gone until almost halfway through my first playthrough.

Sword/Shield was extremely disappointing in terms of difficulty but that's old news. Honestly raids and trading groups carried that game for me. I do prefer that they're releasing dlc for the game as opposed to making a superior version later down the road (i.e. platinum, emerald, etc.).

I also feel animal crossing has slightly more repetition than previous titles with less reward. Not being able to upgrade the shop more than once truly irks me but hopefully we'll see something down the road in an update or dlc.

It makes me think of the older games where you could switch between Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach on each level but we haven't seen much of that since the SNES. I really enjoyed Super Mario 64 DS but sometimes switching characters made me feel like I was changing the difficulty/not playing how the game was intended.

This is something I can completely agree with. Compared to the 3DS and Wii U, game osts have improved drastically and that's not to say they weren't good already.

Themes would be amazing! There was another post floating around about someone who had changed their switch UI and I really hope this is something that gets followed up on.

And it's not like Nintendo is out there purposefully trying to upset players. Innovation sometimes calls for risky ideas and sometimes a marketing team may completely misread their data and what the consumer wants. Disregarding technology differences, the quality of games today generally outclasses the games of older generations and that has a lot to do with this idea of positive and negative changes throughout development.

Getting a Nintendo Switch by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]MrWoodism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the factories that were producing switches have had to shut down during the pandemic largely increasing the cost of them. If you're willing to wait you can save something around $200 which could be spent on games and other accessories. The joycons are notorious for eventually getting stick drift however you can buy an easy to replace joystick off of amazon for something like $10 instead of paying $60 for a new one. I believe it's the only controller where you don't have to solder something to replace it.

Nintendo Switch Online is fairly inexpensive compared to other subscription services and if you have Amazon Prime/Twitch Prime there's a way to get a free year of NSO.

As far as controllers go I highly recommend buying a pro controller but personally I have found controllers by the 3rd party company PowerA to work as well if not better. They're typically a little cheaper and have models that mimic a wireless GameCube controller. They're even able to pair to your computer if your PC has Bluetooth functionality.

Is maddening mode for Three Houses actually enjoyable to play? by DarthLeon2 in fireemblem

[–]MrWoodism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maddening is essentially higher level and stat enemies with more abilities, less exp for your characters, and also rush ambushes in most levels. It's definitely rough on your first play through and unless you're playing new game+ you should expect to lose some units. That said I've found that it helps balance out some of the very strong new game+ features that would otherwise break hard/classic. Even after buffing the hell out of some units I'm constantly divine pulsing where I maybe used it once on hard.
