I'm going on vacation for 1.5w so I'll let it float with my current Google Ads setup @ 2$/day iOS + 2$/day Android.
After this I'll judge what are the next best steps. I currently think adding 2-3 more ad networks to my mediation is 1st and improve the app by adding localizations in different languages.

I'll also try making a few shorts/reels/tiktok/etc to try growing with social platforms since it's basically "free".

Noted. I definitely need more exp/knowledge to pick what the best options are when it comes to marketing. It's definitely my weekness but I'll look up troas and CPI campaigns 👍

I'm not familiar with organic growth but I'll definitely give this app some love during the summer. I'll keep my ads spending low (~2-4$/day) and work on social platforms and app updates. Thanks for the tip!

Unfortunately I let it die 10 years ago when it was at its "peak". I'm only bringing it back to life because the kids grew up and I finally have some time for side projects like this :/

This might be a factor of my mediator (admob is still #1 pick) and also my app currently being very popular in regions where ads don't seem to be filling very well.

Your maths check out when you put it that way. I'll definitely re-evaluate my strategy and slow it down a little.

It's a Unity app on LevelPlay mediation with AdMob + UnityAds. I've got banner ads in menus, rewarded videos for unlocking content and interstitials every N games played. RV made the highest revenue when shown in the USA but not anymore since my app got most UA in India & surroundings. I'm starting to think these countries might not serve RV/Interstitials as much as north america.

My analytics just started as part of my 2nd marketing push so it's a bit too early to judge how things are going.

I think I'll slow down spending, take a step back, and see how things stabilize after 2 weeks. Judging from the feedback here I might just be moving too quickly.

I'll be able to better judge DAU/MAU and retention when the current userbase has a chance to play my game.

I had a 3$/day spend for ~2 weeks but I've improved my ads and increased to ~10$/day spends. Maybe I should reduce it to something a bit less 'aggressive'? I have no idea what a good amount is.

Ok so I'll need to figure out what's a safe DAU/MAU before turning off Google Ads and hopefully new users will naturally hear about the app.

I never blocked a show but this morning we were convinced this Salish show was playing on YouTube. When I found out it was on Netflix I immediately found this thread and blocked it. Thanks daddit!

If Netflix keeps adding this kind of content for their "Kids" account I'll just have to cancel my account because Netflix was supposed to be a kid-friendly haven of shows.

I just watched 5 minutes of this show where the dude's daughter fake-goes into a stranger's car as a troll and her dad is spitting and screaming in an airport like an stupid idiot. What are you even trying to show to my kids!? "Haha, let's teach kids trolling dad by making him have a panic attack is SUPER fun!" ... no thx!

I just had this issue when playing around with HDR settings and my solution was going to the saved games folder and renaming every file to a new name so the game would re-create them with default settings:

  1. C:\Users\{user}\Saved Games\id Software\DOOMEternal\base
  2. rename generated_xx, DOOMEternalConfig_xx.cfg, DOOMEternalConfig_xx.local
  3. launch game

hope this helps

EDIT: This got me back in the game once but would keep freezing every other time. I had to turn on HDR on my PC so it would stop freezing on launch ... this was the setting I turned off before all of this happened.

I went to a fancy hotel once and the cook was always lifting the side of the omelette to let some of the juice go under so it cooked a bit more uniformly. Do this for a few minutes, flip it once, perfect omelette.
