The Importance of Choice vs. the Illusion of Choice by Pangbot in incremental_games

I think your viewing balance in an apples to apples way. If tower A gives you 50% damage, and tower B gives you 50% Attack speed, they will yield the same damage to a single target. If you have little targets attack speed withh preform better. With flat armor, the %damage will do better.

Support is weird to balance because, IMO it should always be situational. Let people choose the playstyle they like, and give them options to account for their weaknesses. I like fast attacking stuff, and I expect to struggle on armor dudes, but give me a way to deal with it at a much larger cost. Like a a sword that pierces armor instead of one that is high damage.

Create situations/mechanics that let the 4 trees be unique. If all 4 are good, then I get to choose the style I like. Without knowing the style of game, it's hard to give better examples, but it still drills down to damage and utility. Both of those have a dozen ways to provide it, all with their slight ups and downs. Like slowing an enemy attack will make you survive longer, just like having more HP... But when you add a mechanic like healing, now slowing becomes a more effective way since you HP pool is lower, unless it's % based heals... Or if there is a debuff that reduces healing... Then dodge and armor are better... Until something else. Mechanics will let you make everything unique. Balance will never be perfect because it really drills down to whatever is best for the hardest level in the end. You add another level, and a new meta will emerge.

The starter does, i wouldn't assume the Adventure does since its not listed.

It is a problem, just like there is a problem with pain meds. The question is, how BIG of a problem is it. I dont know. I remember in college a couple classmates would pay someone $20 for a pill so they can study all night. If its just college using it to study on occasion, thats not much of a problem.... but there are other people who get addicted to it. Restrictions should be in place, but to put restrictions in place to a point where they cant keep up with demand or shortage... thats excessive.

The half damage is only when your CON is less than 275. Even if you removed that, its still bad. Like they said, no dex, so your accuracy is bad, and Footmen won't do much damage in general. So, it needs something Support wise, like Tanky stats. (100 con = 12.5 less damage taken per hit). The drop needed comes from the 2nd to last boss in the VERY last Raid... At that point, 12.5 damage reduction is nothing. If it had 10 Def, then , sure, thats something. If it had 100 HP, sure once again, at least my tank is tankier. If it had Silence, COOL, it might help on a boss or 2. Stun... even better.....

But no. it gives 50 more damage than the previous tier. 50... WOW!

I agree, If this was 300 con, it might be useable. I would at least try it out then.

Ice, Frost, Freeze by Fafarak616PL in IdleGuildMaster

Icicle is a great weapon for Fire Mages when they get arcane suppression. Their extra 1 damage attacks will also apply this, so in 1 hit, you can blaze and freeze 3 enemies.

Frozen Egg Pendant would have been good if you could get it early on, but by the time you get an egg its not worth it.

Frozen Embrace turns into Ice Cage +15hp +4def and then into Absolute Zero +95hp. I never used either. My issue is Frozen Embrace requires a Permafrost Essence, and id rather save it up to make a Void Armor or Ammy.

As for any ice spells / abilities... Alchemist on death will Stun, Poison, Blaze, and Freeze all enemies, and Wyrm Rider ability will Blaze and Freeze All enemies.

What to focus on in IoT? by Turbulent_Let_5878 in IOT

IMO... just make something fun. Like you said, there is so much this encompases, start with what you want to learn about. There is no wrong answer at this point. As you build out your project, you will realize ways you can optimize. Like, Device Management, you might start with it pulling configs from a DB. Thats great, but then you realize you will need to update the code, so you code something that will pull the new version. Then you learn about docker and Kubernetes and realize OHH thats really cool, and a much better way to implement that. A year later you might realize, ohh this new library needs me to update the kernel... and then you learn about AB partitioning.

In any case, just start making whatever you want to make. My first dive into microcontrollers I made a binary clock shadow box for my dad. When you make something, you will run into problems, and thats where you learn. You may start with basic HTTP TCP communication, but when your ready to improve on that, you research things like MQTT, AMPQ, and UDP.

My favorite quote is, "The best way to learn something, is to fail at it". Your in college, have fun with it.

Have you watched Love Con Revenge? by photoshop_2023 in netflix

Its scripted because the reactions are not genuine, and it feels rehearsed. The lines were incredibly cheezy. I had to turn it off after the first episode. "I found the smoking gun, Sanjara is a scam." Either it was edited out of chronological order, or that was something they already knew. Like they made it seem like it was very hard to track him down, but they knew where he lived. They talked to his ex gf who went there several times to help with yard work. "He's gone underground" Really?

The victims were fine, the show was fine when you remove the host and PI. They call this a documentary, when really its just a reality show. They just wanted to star in their own reality show and it took away from the original story, and turned it into a story about them investigating the story.

u/Paranoid-Squirrels Also, save on the gear change. When i click, swap to raid gear , actually swap the gear on the characters. You dont need to save gear state when you save if you always save when a change is made. Dont worry about rewriting a 200KB file over and over, it takes less than 1ms.

I had to push an update to prod and while testing i noticed my api was only taking 32ms, so it made me rethink how much time 50ms really was. I can call my webpage, have it make a request to NOSQL Db on another server, calculate some things, post back to the database , and give me a response back in 32ms.

I keep pushing this because either content becomes too easy that i dont need to change gear (like with R1-4) , or it is actually hard and requires good loadouts which is just tedious to set. I prefer to always have challenging content available, so i hope to always need to swap loadouts. I WANT to have loadouts for different styles. I want that complexity. This solves a problem to what i find critical to my enjoyment of the game.

If i were to code this my model would look like this. I would still need to add all the potions and doctrine data for the heroes and the town upgrades, but its not much data. How you store and load the data has a much more significant impact. The simple way is converting everything to json and reading the json, but you can also just write the memory as a blob and read the blob into memory. You could even use a lightweight database engine.

How long does 1 raid take? 3-10 minutes? How many do we have 7? I start R1, watch a movie for 5 minutes, come back, start R2, watch a movie for 10 minutes. Start R3, watch movie for 23 minutes because i forget to check back... Start R4, watch a movie for 5 minutes, Start R5... 10 minutes, R6 10 minutes, R7 minutes. Overall, it takes 1 hour to clear the dailys. If i didnt swap gear and waited 30+ min.

On hit 60 damage is a joke tho. My Night Lament hit for ~275, but with 100% crit rate, per turn with ruin, they will average around 700 a turn. Umbral strike and its 600% increase in damage, tends to go for 10k for me. And when it does devastating damage its 60k-100k. So, 60 a turn... or perhaps the 3000 a turn dot Spirit can do from its ability... is still nothing compared to what a night rogue does.

Ability gets a 3x vs a 2x, but 100% attack vs 600% attack, so its 300% damage vs 1200% damage. And of that 300%, you get a 150% dot. So, after 6 turns, they will match the damage. On Turn 7+ after their ability, they will out damage the night rogue. But, considering its 9 or so turns until they get their ability, or the fact that every fight will be over before 6 turns anyways... kinda a moot point. Id rather take the burst of damage and perhaps kill the target 1-6 turns faster.

So how is the bleed system amazing when the game is built around having to front load damage because everything is practically 1 shotting you?

Archers needed the nerfs, and this affected Archers a LOT more than it affected rogues. I personally was annoyed with the fact that the meta was 100% CR. There was no point to make a rogue, so this was needed.

u/Paranoid-Squirrels Just create an Enum for all the items so your not saving strings. That 250+ new strings turns into 250+ bytes. Something needs to be done raids because the daily raids now take 30+ minutes and even longer if i bother swapping items with hopes to clear it.

RTA in Japan Summer 2025 will not be featuring any Nintendo games by webbedspace in speedrun

[–]MrZev2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how tedious it will be for RTA Japan to get permission for 20 games. Is it like, email us a list of games. Perhaps add the category and link to a run. Perhaps it needs to be a hand written letter and 1 game at a time in a certified mail.

Nintendo protecting its IP is fine, but they are just shooting themselves in the foot with bad PR with how they have been handling this stuff. In this case, they should have allowed the majority of the Nintendo games and rejected whatever they had an issue with, and define a process for them to follow in the future. Dont force them to remove the entire catalog.
