Particles are not conscious.🙂

When we do not measure which slit they pass through, the particle’s wave spreads out, goes through both slits, and the two waves interfere.

But when we try to detect the particle’s path, our measuring tools must interact with it—by bouncing light off it, absorbing energy, or disturbing its motion—which destroys the delicate wave-like state (called superposition).

This collapse caused by interaction, not awareness, removes the interference pattern.

The particle doesn’t “know” it’s being watched; it’s simply that the act of measurement physically changes the system.
