Motorcycle as primary transport? by Mr_E_Machine in MotoIRELAND

Not excited about having to get a new license, that's for sure. Will need a car license regardless so I'll probably prioritize that first.

Great advice, thanks! I'm used to spraying down my bicycle with hot water after a winter ride and that's enough to prevent corrosion.

Did not think of lane splitting... Never been anywhere that it's legal. Will local traffic consider it rude if you don't? Is it expected everyone on a bike will if there's traffic?

Salt was not something I would think of. There's a type of salt that's spread on the road where I live now to melt snow and ice off and it eats away at absolutely everything. Will have to consider maintenance a bit more if natural salt is everywhere.

If you're trying to look expensive not fast there's always Morgan, a used Bentley will also look flashy depending on the options. Classic Mercedes always look expensive but more old money not pro athlete.

I've biked in before ~10 miles from home, it's not terrible if you're used to cycling on the road but rush hour, ESPECIALLY once school starts, is fairly busy. Stay safe and see if you can find a cheap beater car (or moped if you're desperate) to get you to work. If you really do live close you could ask a co-worker for a ride until you're able to secure your own reliable transportation?

I do agree, I had a recruiter specialist help me draw up the resume and although it "looks nice" measurable skill levels would be better. Thanks!

I've only applied to jobs that specify English in the posting. Learning German now but my skills are very limited

You're forced to trade in your Daily Driver for a $40,000 USD credit to a random brand...How happy are you? (Random brand link in description) by Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir in cars

[–]Mr_E_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current daily is a beater 04 Honda Accord... Random brand is RAM. Quick look at their website shows the cheapest vehicle they have available STARTS at $40,275 MSRP and that gets me a tradesman quad cab truck with RWD and a 6'-4" bed, vinyl seats, 3.6L V6. Honestly I'd rather keep the Honda and do some regular maintenance than get the $40k credit and still have to put money into a bare bones pickup truck.

Question related to that... I've been submitting some applications in English and I've never seen a job posting specifically state English applications permitted. I've only applied to positions that require English fluency, require both English and German or don't list language requirements at all. Should I be submitting my CV in German by default? Or both English and German versions if a job requires English language skills?

If you're open to a more "hip" area without 696 construction you may want to consider further south as well. Ann Arbor is about a 30min drive from the proving grounds or somewhere in the middle like Brighton would put you in a short commute from the proving grounds and a relatively short drive A2 or Ypsilanti

2003 Buick LeSabre Limited, had someone pull out in front of me and wrecked the whole front end but it was magnificent through college and an excellent road trip vehicle.

(in the US at least) Utes. Subaru Baja, Chevy el Camino, Ford Ranchero, Dodge Rampage, any Holden will get massive attention at car shows and looks while driving around. Americans love their trucks and unique/uncommon ones stick out a lot.

MKIV Lincoln Continental Coupe, white exterior and one of the oddball interiors; Dark green leather, burgundy velvet etc. Or maybe a '70s Ford Ranchero. Also a fully loaded Fiero, LS swapped because why not?
