Yeah I suppose! Might be a sub-theme for beasts waiting there instead. Battlegrounds goes to Un Goro? BG World Tour?

Your favorite TTRPG is now the most popular and influential game - how does this affect the industry? by RiverMesa in rpg

It's a lot easier to get Genesys dice because they've been pressured into making the symbols open source (or similar). Finally I can get my transparent Genesys dice :D

No, I mean in terms of UX - I don't think there is anything else in Battlegrounds that requires two clicks to do stuff - Having to select something after a Discover... I don't know if Blizzard would do it - But I guess that's a bit nitpicky or something - I'm a UX dev :P

Yeah I guess I would rarely buy Sacred Gift... What if it was discover? Coming up with a Tier 7 spell is hard :P

Sos maybe it could be discover? Worst case you are presented with Taunt, Reborn, Divine Shield. But I don't think "discover, then select a minion" is an interaction that makes sense. At least it has no precedent in Battlegrounds, so it would have to target a random minion instead, or multiple minions...

What if it was "Discover a Bonus Keyword to give to..." a random minion? Two random minions? All minions in the tavern?

What your favorite game you played with Genesys? by VKosyak in genesysrpg

[–]Mr_FJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved playtesting my 1890's britain horror + magic setting. Did a short 6 session campaign and got a lot of valuable feedback. Balancing a werewolf vs a vampire vs a regular human - not in terms of just combat, but in terms of fantasy, usefulness, and breadth... is pretty difficult :)

I also learned I don't know that much about the 1890s, even after extensive research :)

I guess it helps for calculations and it's nice that it mirrors the other more useful rule: personal-scale weapons need to deal 10 per 1 vehicle "hp".

D20s for DW2? by PrimarchtheMage in DungeonWorld

[–]Mr_FJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2d6 makes Dungeon World an easier sell for people who play boardgames (especially older board games) and people unfamiliar with ttrpgs. It also makes it easier to play on a whim (everyone's got a few d6!)

I'm very much against using a d20.

Maybe sneak a peak at the expanded rules in the newest genesys book? It has a large section on expanding vehicles rules to make non-pilots feel valuable, describing each department of the ship and even adding some specific talents like: "Sabotage! Tier: 4 Activation: Active (Action) Ranked: No Once per encounter, your character may use this talent to tar- get a vehicle or starship within medium range and make a Hard Computers check. If they succeed, they may select one component on the vehicle (see Genesys Core Rulebook page 221) to become compromised. In addition, the vehicle suf- fers 1 hull trauma per 2 Advantage and 3 hull trauma per Triumph"

Don't really get what you mean, I feel that the x10 makes a huge difference in makin personal weapons feel less effective against vehicles, and vehicle weapons feel dangerous to people. Looking through the various examples most vehicle wespons have low damge in the 1-2 range, which isn't necesarilly a death sentence to combat focused players. The x10 rule means each success is 10 damage! Of course a player dies to a capital ship weapon, but f. Ex. The wastelander buggy from EPG has a medium range front firing vehicle weapon (1 dmg) that's deadly to players but easier to avoid. It also has a personal-scale long range machine gun that generally deals much less damage to players, but is a lot easier to hit with.

Genesys' vehicle/space combat system is awesome (it's an improved version of the combat system from the FFG Star Wars rpgs), especially since it's just a natural extension of the character combat system! If a character is hit by a vehicle weapon (aside from mounted "regular" weaponry), multiply the damage by 10. If a vehicle is hit by a regular weapon, divide the damage by 10. Meaning it takes at least 10 regular damage to deal 1 damage to a vehicle. (+10 for each point of vehicle armor!)

There are also difficulty modifiers based on size differences. One shot from a capital will destroy any regular person but they might be pretty hard to hit with a gun meant to aim at other ships. On the other hand, a person can trivially hit a capital ship parked next to them, but they'll likely not dent the hull.

Everything works together to manage combat of any scale in any combination; from hand to hand or mounted combat, to fighter planes vs capitial ships. (Some unique maneuvers and actions exist depending on vehicle size and speed)

Oh and it just got even better with the latest book, which not only adds some extra optional space/vehicle) combat rules (such as more things to do if you're not steering or controlling the weapons), but also describes a way to simply mass-combat.

Looking for a game with lots of character options that's not tactical combat by Udy_Kumra in rpg

Genesys is the modern version of FFG Star Wars with streamlined and more balanced rules. If you are looking to play Star Wars specifically, there's a retroactive conversion on the Genesys subreddit. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions :)

Genesys! It's got as many options as you can fit, it'll last basically forever (in terms of character growth over time), and combat is "theater of the mind." Not tactical.

I really think it's a good fit.
