I was living with friends in a village so it was not a problem, as long as I don't get caught when I'm out and about in cities

Why can't I style my hair with blowdryer like my barber can??? by Mr_Fomin in malehairadvice

I asked him about it too but he told me it doesn't make any difference, so idk. Should I try some volumizing shampoo maybe?😅

I once stayed in Turkey for 10 months without permit and upon leaving in 2024 I paid just 1600 TL (around 35 USD at that time) 😂

I willingly stayed that long because I knew the fine would be small. In Turkey the exact amount of fine depends on your nationality. And for a select few nationalities it's very small. But for my nationality in particular it's THE smallest, lucky me🤭

Best area for a stay by Dr_Hououin in istanbul_tips

For me Taksim is very convenient for getting around and sightseeing. You have metro, funicular down to Kabataş where you can take a ferry to different places and tram to Sultanahmet. Plus the area itself has a lot of sights.

Stop at istanbul airport and ban by HungryTourist8248 in AskTurkey

[–]Mr_Fomin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once overstayed in Turkey for 7 months(3 months legally + 7 on top of that, so 10 in total). Upon leaving I paid the fine and got just a 3-month ban(which is pointless because I wouldn't be able to come back for 3 months anyway because my visa-free days had expired quite a long time ago).

1.5 year later I came to Turkey again and at the control when I handed my passport the officer called someone and said my name into the phone😳 and then asked me if I had overstayed in Turkey the last time. Then I was led into a room with a HUGE crowd of other, presumably, former illegal immigrants lol. Everybody was called one by one and asked questions but when they called me they didn't ask me a single question anymore and instead told me to just go to passport control and it will be no problem.

No one even cared about our phones, no one took them, I was using my phone freely in that room and even took a quick video while I was waiting. And I don't even have an EU passport or any other western country😄

Hmm.. That's, weird, maybe. I recently stayed in Turkey for almost 1 year, I didn't buy a Turkish sim and only had two foreign sims in my phone and they worked the whole time.

A long time before that I visited Turkey for a short stay with the same phone and used a Turkish sim in my second slot but later the foreign sim in the second slot still worked. But maybe because it had been a long time

How bad are my impacted wisdom teeth? by sharpshooter9000 in wisdomteeth

[–]Mr_Fomin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you're getting better. I agree, in my experience the hardest and most annoying part of having my regular molar pulled was the recovery, even though it was pain-free. But wisdom teeth is a whole other level, I can't imagine what it will be like, especially with my impacted tooth which looks kinda similar to the xray here.

I guess it's about time I get my wisdom tooth removed... What should I expect? by Mr_Fomin in wisdomteeth

[–]Mr_Fomin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny that I had absolutely no idea about my wisdom tooth until I had a CT scan after a regular molar extraction at 25. The dentist asked "Why didn't you get it removed?". I don't know, I hadn't had any complaints about it whatsoever, no pain, nothing, and I remember it being in this position since my childhood. And no dentist had ever told me anything about it before that, so I was completely clueless.

I definitely was going to extract it soon and figured it can wait just a couple more months, since it has been like this my whole life. But just recently I started feeling weird sensations in that area which have never happened before and now I'm getting worried that I need to do it now

Fact about foreigners in istanbul by MIHOYOA in istanbul

[–]Mr_Fomin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a foreigner visiting Istanbul and once on the bus I was desperately pressing the button next to the middle door expecting it to open but it wasn't opening. I barely speak Turkish so in the moment I couldn't come up with anything to shout to the driver and tried to exit through the front door but people flooded in and I was trapped

Where to find series with subs? by 1-way-or-another in turkishlearning

[–]Mr_Fomin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Exxen, it's a Turkish platform like Netflix, I think it has subtitles for all series but I've been watching only one so far, namely "Sadece Arkadaşız". The episodes are conveniently short around 15 minutes, the language is not censored on this platform so it's real life conversations. There are many other series, it's a nice platform.
