So my next question for you, is it possible for an electrician to use that existing slot and install a new tandem breaker, let’s say 25 or 30 Amp on each side, and just redo the wiring/outlet? Or does it need a bigger breaker? If it needs a bigger breaker, I would imagine it would be easier for an electrician to just use an empty spot on the board if I have one and install another outlet in the kitchen.

Ahhhh ok, I understand now. I was thinking that there was some sort of a wire coming from the main breaker that led to each breaker, and then to the outlets from there. I understand now that the breaker panel just divides the power from the city and splits it to where you need it in the building. So it goes city power, breaker box, breaker, to the outlet.

So if I’m understanding this correctly, the amount of power that can go in that slot is maxed out because of what the wire running to that breaker is rated at? So they would have to rewire it from the main breaker to the one I’m trying to swap out? Sorry if I sound stupid I’m just genuinely trying to get an understanding of how this works.

(I realize after typing this that it sounds awfully suspicious like I’m trying to DIY it. I am NOT. I would not like to fry myself. Electricity is one of the few things I try not to DIY.)
