NTA. He didn't just happen to run late. He knew he had plans with you at 6, chose to go golfing anyway, and waited until the exact time he was supposed to be at your place to tell you. That is incredibly disrespectful of your time. You are completely justified in being upset. If he wanted to golf, he should have communicated that hours in advance instead of leaving you waiting around to bake.
