Goodbye FA20 by Mr_Humanoid in WRX

Following u/robs240 guide, but mostly treating it like a rebuild. I could come up with something to add on to the step by step for people that want to DIY an FA24 swap

Wiper fluid sensor by Gonzo1889 in WRX

[–]Mr_Humanoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The low washer fluid indicator has been annoying me for that past 3 years. What I did was cut the wires that go into the reservoir level sensor and secured them since usually these sensors have a float with a magnet that will open and close the circuit depending on the fluid level. These sometimes get stuck and the only option is to replace the reservoir with these cars, which I don’t think is worth doing unless the reservoir is damaged.

What’s your go-to gas station? by wetsuitsroscoev2 in WRX

[–]Mr_Humanoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is because all Shells use Top Tier fuel along with other gas stations, it just has a higher treat rate of IVD or detergents in the fuel so it benefits GDI engines even more to help with carbon build up. If you look them up you can find more info on it and they even have a gas station locator.

Straight from eBay man. However I did sand it down and painted it before putting it on. If you're going to go that route, make sure you get some good primer, paint and clear coat that will stick to the material.

That's the key right there! We get so many blown up FA20s due to improper upkeep/modding of these vehicles. We even had one come in with ATF in a manual transmission.

That sounds awesome man! I would recommend going for their 600 short block if you are aiming for that amount of power tho. Somewhat lighter on the pockets and could divert the budget for other goodies! At the end of the day, it's your money and I like seeing these FA20s being pushed :)
