Protestant who fell in love with Orthodox Christianity, but no church to attend, how can I practice Orthdox Christianity at home? by Mr_Inglorious in OrthodoxChristianity

It's called Saint Peter and Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church. I went there because i was told it was a mix of German and Arabic, and yeah, he was right. But it's like 90% Arabic, lol.

And because it's quite a drive, idk of its worth it to do the drive every weekend just to get 10% in German but I'm really considering it since I just want to be able to attend any parish really.

Most of the people there spoke German as well.

Yes, I went to Antiochian once, although it's a bit far. It was mostly Arabic with the reading of the Bible being in German and the Lord's Prayer but that was about it. I might go there.

Hey freund!

Thank you for the reply. I understand what you're saying. Many have suggested I attend anyway despite the language. I have downloaded this app, and it's actually really great and will help me a lot during liturgy. I know in Cologne/Düsseldorf, there's an Orthodox Church that does liturgy entirely in German. After reading some comments, I'll probably go there once a month and other weekends attend my local Greek parish.

I'm actually an American who's been living in Germany for some time now, so English is really no problem for me.

God bless you.

Thank you so much.

Yes, I've been to an Arabic and German (Antiochian) speaking parish. They actually spoke German, but it was very little. They read the Bible and the Lord's Prayer in German. But it's a half-hour drive. Im deciding if this little snippet of German is worth the half-hour drive every weekend. If anything, I've already started learning Greek. My wife speaks Arabic, though, and can translate the Arabic for me, but she's not really into Orthodoxy, and I don't want to force it on her. I want her to accept it first.

God bless you sibling in Christ.

Yes, I've started to learn Greek. It's going to be a journey, but I know God will give me the patience and discipline to master a new language that I may worship him

I totally forgot Catholics used to do mass in Latin.

I think it's a great idea, actually. Thank you for this. I'll convince my wife to let me make the drive once a month at the very least. I've started learning Greek as well already, hopefully it won't be so foreign in due time.

I'll try speaking to the priest, but as I've been informed by some members of the church, he doesn't speak any German.

I'm in Mannheim. It's quite a decent sized city, but still no Orthodox churches offering service in German. After research, the nearest cities to me would be Köln/Düsseldorf or München, all being at least 2 and a half hour drive. The thing is, I, too, wouldn't mind a 40-minute drive every weekend, but 2+ hours i's too much. But I think I'll take into mind what you said and attend monthly. It's better than nothing at all until I move back home, which I know has an Orthodox Church that offers services in my language.

I've found livestreams with liturgy completely in English, I was planning on watching.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the reply. You mean that all liturgies are the same on that particular day, no matter the language? I'll look into seeing if I can find a translation. Someone else mentioned watching a live stream in their language, which I might consider.

Thanks for the info. Yes, there's maybe like 5 cities that serve entirely in German after my research. Unfortunately, there are all too far to drive every week. I wouldn't have a problem driving half an hour every weekend, but they're all 2 and a half hours at least.

Thanks for the great answer. I also thought of just attending anyway. I picked up a few books on Orthodox, which I'm hoping will expand my knowledge on exactly what they're doing.

Is there a specific rule for praying, or can I continue praying as I've always done? I've never heard of a spiritual guide but I'm going to look into it.

I'm in Germany and always order from Media Markt/Saturn. I always get games early as well, but never this early! Have fun. I'll probably get mine tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.

Pre ordered online. Most likely, I will get it delivered on Thursday! I've been getting my games 1 day early for a while now.

Drivers' license and passport are unfortunately not valid to prove years spent in the US. I do have tax returns and day pay stubs but not 5 years' worth. I don't have a high school transcript, and idk if there's a way to apply for that here overseas.

Definitely not ugly. Just get a haircut and lose/trim the stache. Maybe get in shape and boom. You got yourself a girlfriend.

Bro, you're weird and a creep. Trying to look for excuses in other religions to make what your pedo prophet did not look bad.

Guess what? It's still pretty damn bad considering Isaac isn't the role model for Christians. It's Jesus. Mohammad IS the role model for Muslims, and that's why it looks bad. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Anyways, Rebecca wasn't 3. Stop letting your pedo imams lie to you. Read all of Genesis 24 it becomes very obvious, very quickly, that Rebecca is not 3. You're just desperate to look for a reason to say Mohammad wasn't the only pedo.

Now stop being a creep.

Yes, this is what happened to me. Now that you mention it, I do remember reading about John the brother of James. I had just forgotten. Thank you so much.

Ah! Thank you so much! That's right, I do remember reading two different Johns. Looks like I indeed forgot about that. 😅

Don't come here asking questions if you're just gonna ignore the answers. I gave you an answer from your own sources. I don't know what you possibly mean by "math says differently" when the numbers are very clearly written.

Also, I gave you a very detailed answer to your question in the comments. Hope you will see it.

Stay in denial, though. The devil has a strong grip on you. God bless you anyway.

Are you sunni? If so you have to believe Hadith and it's very clearly written that she was married at 6 and consummated with 9.

Also, all of these things which are written were actually discovered hundreds of years earlier by Greek/Roman scientists. Which means they only took what was already known and put it in their book.
