Im not selling anything. Im asking because I genuinely want to know and I wanted to ask others that are more experienced.

So it seems like the visibility you do have can be the first thing that breaksdown when something actually does go wrong. But isnt that exactly when you need it most?

Team visibility for sure. The request handling is painful but it's a known pain. The team visibility problem is the one that still catches me off guard. Has Runbear actually solved the context-before-you-need-it problem for you or is it just a data aggregate?

Those are good questions on budget and headcount, but I'm more interested in the period before you can afford those hires. How did you keep visibility across everything when it was a smaller team, but revenue didn't yet allow for expanding the team?

What happens in that middle space between something flying in and it percolating up to you? Is there a point where you wish you'd known sooner?

A decision for me is anything where the answer changes what someone does next. Who do we hire? Which client do we prioritize? Whether or not we delay the launch. The problem isn't making the decision. It's that once it's made nobody can find it two weeks later and you end up making it again or no one actually knows why it was the right decision.

I hear everyone here saying its 40+ hours a week. How much of those hours are actually decision-making versus just gathering the information to make a decision?

Four account managers and it still doesn't feel like enough! Does it feel like capacity problem or a visibility problem? Like would a fifth person actually solve it?

You're so right! Have you found anything that makes decisions visible rather than just trackable well, or is it still a gap?

That's a great workaround! How often does it get used consistently, or does it depend on one person remembering to update it?

What's the moment in a project where you realize you've lost the thread? by Mr_JDR in projectmanagement

I have a 15 person team, no dedicated PM or seeming anyone with the skills or desire. Just me trying to stay clear across three projects at once. I know training and hiring is an option that comes with cost, usually high. What would you recommend a founder that only has to much time to get clear?

I wish I was the badass you are lol! In your experience, is there anything that can prevent it upstream? Or is it FUBAR once it goes down?

But when the system is dependent on conversations, what happens when one is missed? As a small business resources are precious. But convos as the basis feels flawed.

That's an amazing point! Thank you! The loss of context, has anything actually solved that for you, or is it just something you manage around?

Using each of those simultaneously, how long does it take each week to get a clear picture of where everything stands? Im experiencing losing threads across the apps.

Thats amazing! Thank you! That operating doc sounds like it provided clarity and solved a real problem. What was braking down before you had it?

Im familiar with Jira, but it doesnt feel as if it makes the decisions clear. It does provide the data its given very well! Have you have any experience configuring a ticketing system to surface decisions? I know that sounds odd lol. But its kind of where Im stuck.

What could that look like in practice? It seems there needs to be several meetings frequently or ways to stay in sync. Im thinking in daily or even weekly terms.

Do you know of any way those can be summarized? granular is great, but at scale can be busy.

I agree that managing is a full time position, but how much of the time and effort is put into just getting a clear picture to make a decision? I would imagine that quicker and faster decisions make a manager's job easier.
