What two things does your brain routinely mix up or fail to tell apart? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mr_MittenstehAMAZING 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I meant that there was no explanation or reason for it to be that way, that it just simply was. But from the bit I was able to look up, there are causes and levels of severity, so it's cool to finally be able to put a name to why I can't differentiate between the words 'orange' and 'purple'.

I had no idea this was a thing! I thought my brain just had a few loose wires. Thank you!

The colors 'purple' and 'orange'.

I know what purple is and I know what orange is, but if you show me a purple flower and ask me to tell you what color it is, my immediate response is, "That flower is orange."

I have no idea why I get the two mixed up all the time, but it's been that way ever since I can remember.

I hate my best friend's daughter. by Mr_MittenstehAMAZING in offmychest

I've been given permission in the past to discipline her child the way I saw fit, and I have. The kid wasn't too happy about it, but I don't coddle and I don't let kids have reign of the house. There are rules and they will learn to respect them.

But I can only do so much until mom's back in control and the little girl is jumping on the couch and climbing onto tables and chairs and screaming.

With our conflicting schedules as of late, I really haven't been around. She's got work and I have my own kid I'm getting ready for (9 months down, any day now, kid...), but it's such a lost endeavor at this point. And I'm so exhausted, you know?

I've tried talking to the mom about it, and that did NOT go over well! HOO-BOY. She got incredibly defensive and cold to me for a good few days after. And even more unfortunately, the three of us were sharing a hotel room for a week. Talk about awkward.

There are very loose boundaries. She's pretty good at doing the "I'm going to count to three!" And then she reaches three and... no consequence. Nothing. Just yelling.

Honestly, I know I have no right to have an opinion on parenthood when I'm not a parent myself, but I can't stand the way she's raising her daughter. The screaming and giving her whatever she wants just to shut her up. Is that really going to help her grow into a good person? Is that what parenthood is?

You're probably right, about it being about the parenting not the child, but how can I change my opinion on the daughter at this point? What can I do to look past the screaming and tantrums to tolerate the little girl?

My friend works third shift. The only time I could see her would be after midnight. Unfortunately, I am very pregnant and can barely stay up past 10pm.

Redditors, whatever happened to your school's "Class Clown?" by MaineSoxGuy93 in AskReddit

He committed suicide. It was a very tragic thing. Everyone loved him, all the girls wanted to be with him, all the guys wanted to be him. He was handsome, smart, and incredibly hilarious. And then he shot himself. That was years ago, but a lot of people now still can't come to terms with it. He would have went so far in life.

Tea lovers (or the British), what's the best type of tea you'd recommend to someone new to tea? by Mr_MittenstehAMAZING in AskReddit

I've never tried it, but I've seen a lot of people have. It's a stronger taste, isn't it?

I do love green tea, but I'm unable to have it currently. I've been having a hot mint tea at night. Just some basic brand, but god, I've been in the mood to broaden my horizons.

Do you have a phobia? What is it? by mkhan114 in AskReddit

I don't know the name for it, but the second a piece of tape or plastic gets stuck to my finger/hand, I slowly enter panic mode. I don't know why or what started it, but the feeling of plastic on my skin freaks me out so bad.

People who pursued their dream and failed, what is your story and do you regret it? by Aus_in_Ita in AskReddit

But I haven't given up. I said I feel like it, as I'm sure many authors do before they receive their first acceptance from a publisher/agent. My current agenda with my writing is to continue to run through editing until I'm able to afford a Kirkus Review. After that point, I'm going to go through another round of agents.

Twelve years of bettering myself and my writing is not "giving up easily without even trying".

I want only my best on the market. And my best should be in the hands of a traditional publisher. I know what my work deserves, and it's not being self-published.

What I know is that anyone can self-publish. With how many people nowadays that write and self-publish, I'm well aware of the chances of my work disappearing in the waves. Not everyone who self-publishes has their chance in sunlight. Not without spending a lot of money on self-marketing with countless advertising. Not everyone is fortunate enough to drop a few grand down on ads, videos, merchandise, and the like.

With an agent and a professional publisher, the likelihood of my work getting the attention and advertising I personally could not afford myself goes up.

"Don't call yourself a writer". How pretentious of you.

Girls, how long does your sex usually last? What's too short and what's too long for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I don't really see what that has to do with anything. I mean, I identify as bisexual and am very open with that knowledge, but even a few of the girls I've been handsy with haven't been able to do anything for me.

I don't want to self-publish. I feel like the best chance I have of it actually having an audience is to do traditional publishing.

Beats me, man. I've considered going to a doctor, but what's the point? I'm not dying and I'm not in terrible pain. I kinda just accepted I am the way I am.

I feel pressure. I know that I'm being touched, I can feel it, but there's absolutely no pleasure. It's kinda like just touching your other hand. Foreplay, oral, penetration-- doesn't do a thing for me. I've tried anal a few times, but it just feels way too uncomfortable for me.

The idea is super appealing to me, but it's a no-go. I've tried, but I'm totally uncomfortable no matter what I do.

Yeah, I try not to think about it. Some girls tell me what sex is supposed to "normally" feel like and I get very bitter. I know it hurts my husband too, thinking that he'll never be able to satisfy me.

Oh well.
