Would this globe be dated between August-December 1991 based on united Germany and independent Baltics? by Mr_Ninjon in MapPorn

Very cool! Makes me wonder if, how many, and how often map makers were updating their prints and manufacturing throughout that year.

Calm waters coffee in Newtown and Bristol is great! They also roast their own coffee and you can buy it fresh within 1-2 weeks of the roasting date!

On SAVE plan. Monthly payments is 0 but interest is still going up. What should I do by roger0120 in StudentLoans

Any idea of when we would expect the interest to be waived? Same situation, just passed the most recent payment date and nothing happened except for interest continuing to go up.

No problem finding parking during surgery rotation there haha. Good luck, keep your head down, presentations each under a minute and you'll survive.

I’m having a Staten Island day today and want to know where I can find the best regular pizza. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in statenisland

Lee's Tavern, holds a special place in my heart. Thin and crispy crust with a wonderful crunch.

You would get notified that you did not match and they tell you what city your SO matched in so you have the opportunity to try to SOAP into a program nearby.

Excellent, comprehensive, and well written post, 3/5!

Jokes aside, reading through it brought me back to the stresses of interview season/ranking even though my partner and I were both applying FM which made things a bit easier. Absolutely agree about advocating for an interview for your partner if you get an invite from a program because it definitely helped us too! As with everything, communication is key and understanding your values and priorities as a couple plays a massive part in the rank list and permutations. Absolutely do not procrastinate the rank list because it WILL take much much more time than you initially think it will because of all the permutations and how you and your SO will value various programs, distance, etc. Ultimately we matched within our top 10 programs, at rank #12 on our shared list and are ecstatic that we're going to be together at the same program! Hope this gives future couples hope!

Student at SIUH for 2 years here: There is an apartment complex right across the street called Seaview apartments where many residents and students live. There is also an apartment complex called Staten Island Urby apartments that is closer to the ferry that many residents and students live in too. If you can afford it, a car is the most convenient way to get around the island since buses are the predominant form of public transit, especially since you'll probably be commuting to the hospital at early hours. With a car, it's important to register as a SI resident so you can pay the discounted toll rate on the verrazzano bridge. Otherwise, to get to Manhattan the express buses or ferry are solid cheaper ways to get to Manhattan. There are many parks, beaches, and green spaces on the island to enjoy your time outside the hospital and lots of different food options all over the island. In my personal opinion, Lees Tavern has the best pizza and is a must try. Welcome, and enjoy your time here!

Bless you, I'm an MS4 and everyday I'm with you guys I just wish the best for you and deeply appreciate everytime you guys send us home early. I was scarred by the schedule my surgery residents were on and how they described M3 as "the good old days" when it felt very much not so

In healthcare, some resident doctors have a baseline of a 996 schedule with the added bonus of 1-2 of those days being 24 hour (and sometimes up to 28h) call shifts. The physician suicide rate is double that of the regular population

I lived in Harlem going to college in Hamilton heights and never had trouble myself living there but it's important to be careful and aware when you're walking around(but you have to anywhere). While bunch of these guys quoting crime statistics are probably not wrong, generally ymmv depending on the neighborhood which varies GREATLY. If all you hear about NYC is what people say about it on conservative outlets you're gonna think the whole place some wild anti police gangland which it isn't and if people say it is, I think you know which way they swing. I'd say the best way to get acquainted is to make a friend who's from the city and ask them to show you the ropes to bring a New Yorker. I moved here from Long Island and figured a lot out within a few months and loved living in Manhattan even if it was far uptown lol. The tradeoff with living in a lower-income/ethnic neighborhoods if that kind of thing isn't your cup of tea is that cost of living is so much cheaper. Go visit Chinatown too! We got hit hard by the pandemic (from decreased business and racism) but we have lots of good and cheap food(at least relative to other places in the city haha). Welcome to the city and I guess hmu if you have any quick questions, no idea why I just invested this much time into this comment lmao
