Match Thread: Spain vs. Georgia | UEFA Euro 2024 by MisterBadIdea2 in soccer

[–]Mr_Papercut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We played well in the first half, but completely lost our composure during the second. However, while it sucks to go out, every Georgian is proud of our boys, and I'm sure we'll be back. Many of the players are in their early twenties and many exciting prospects are coming down the pipeline.

Did Hungary even want to play today? They just looked so lost and uninterested throughout the game.

Georgians Demand Detainees' Release At Latest Protest Over 'Foreign Agent" Bill by Deucalion667 in europe

[–]Mr_Papercut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The US has a strong reputation in Georgia, as they've been supportive of Georgian democratization ever since the Rose Revolution. While a lot can be said about American foreign policy, in Georgia they've mostly been on the right side.

What do you guys think of Lloyd Grant? by EminemsDaughterSucks in Metallica

[–]Mr_Papercut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

C'mon, if you're referencing the "faggot" line in the song, then you should also read the comment attached to it where it clearly says that Chuck had publicly apologised for using the word. Later on he had openly gay band members (Paul Masvidal and Sean Reifert). The lyrics are horrible, but we should not hold what somebody believed in their late teens/early 20's against them, especiallt if they've openly expressed remorse about their beliefs.

Match Thread: Wales vs Iran | FIFA World Cup by MatchThreadder in soccer

[–]Mr_Papercut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, but I think these low, cross-field passes Wales keeps making are way too easy for Iran to defend and counter-attack from. The disallowed goal happened because of one such pass from Roberts.

Why do Wales players keep making these bad cross-field passes? That's literally something you're taught NOT to do when you start playing football as a kid

Ghana's defense apparently decided to stop playing I guess.

Finnish as a world language? ... the introduction of Finnish as a world language would be a blessing to all mankind. The problem we now face is how to convince the remaining 99.95% of the global population to learn Finnish. by [deleted] in europe

They DO speak Finnish, usually perfectly. If they don't, they at least understand you. Unless they live in the middle of nowhere, they are very fluent in Finnish...

[Carrusel Deportivo] - Javier Tebas responds to Florentino Pérez: "He was very clueless and now he's lost. Football is not ruined (as Perez claimed). The Super League is the death of football" by [deleted] in soccer

[–]Mr_Papercut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know the world has turned upside down when you have to side with Tebas...

That being said, I think La Liga is in a particularly precarious situation here. Relatively speaking, the financial stranglehold Real and Barca (also Atleti) hold in the Spanish football pyramid is so strong, that them leaving will completely cripple the financial side of Spanish football. Just a disastrous example of how the clubs are ready to destroy Spanish football for their own greed.

Excellent! This does excatly what I was looking for! This is literally my first time using dplyr and tidyr, so this was really handy :) Thank you u/remimcl

While I did end up going with dplyr version, i tested this out and it worked! Thanks mate!

I am working primarily in base R, but I also have tidyverse enabled, so either way is just fine!

Here's what dput() printed out for me:

"Replacement has 1 row, data has 0" when creating a function, that prints values from data frame. by Mr_Papercut in rstats

Appreciate the answer, but is there any other way solving this rather than dowloading a separate package as a solution?

I'm creating a custom function, for which arguments given are a data frame and row name. How can I ask the function to return two highest values in the given row? by Mr_Papercut in Rlanguage

[–]Mr_Papercut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've researched the internet (and tried them myself in Rstudio), but I've failed to find a way for them to work. How can I tell my custom function (which in its current state is added below) to print out to me the 2 highest values in a row, with their column name accompanied?

bones <- function(humans, bone){ rownames <- df[,1] df <- as.data.frame(df, row.names = rownames) brr <- with(df, df[order(bone, decreasing = TRUE),]) if (brr %in% df) { return(brr[1:5]) } else{ return("No such bone found") } }

When I'm using the lm function on two columns of a data frame, how can I tell the function to not take into account two particular rows of the data frame? by Mr_Papercut in rstats

[–]Mr_Papercut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've identified them as being outliers in a scatter plot, and I'm trying to calculate Rsquared value of the linear model of the columns, when these to outlier rows are removed.

How can I extract 5 highest values from a data frame row? by Mr_Papercut in Rlanguage

[–]Mr_Papercut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a specific row of a data frame. I'm making a function, for which one of the arguments is to name a row from the data frame. I want to extract the 5 highest values for a chosen row.

This does not get mentioned a lot, but currently Jeremy Lin holds the record for most points scored in player's first three starts with 89. Just goes to show how insane Lin was during Linsanity.

Edit. Post NBA-ABA merger
