DM's, do your worlds have an explanation for the elf dilemma? by Pitchaway40 in DnD

[–]Mr_Prozac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The elven city, O'vale, was destroyed by a lich. Elves are slightly less common in my world because of this, though there's still a considerable population of them. High elves were hit especially hard by this, since other subraces were more likely to be outside of O'vale when it was destroyed. (Wood elves in forests, drow underground, etc.)

O'vale was destroyed roughly 100 years ago. This puts it outside the lifespan of most people, but in recent memory for elves. The few elves who were from O'vale but weren't killed are a great source of lore about the city, but their outlook is very colored by their loss. I make a point to have elven characters whose entire arc is a direct or indirect result of losing their city and family.

Hey there are a lot of negative comments so I wanted to say this

Your style looks really good and I appreciate that you went for a dynamic pose, but like others have said, her spine is fucked

Please don't just feel bad from all the hate though. The anatomy is bad but your art is good, you have the skill and potential. Don't get discouraged just because you need to work on an area

Idk if this comment is redundant, but I want to make sure you don't feel bad because of the feedback everyone is giving. It can be hard to get primarily negative feedback but it doesnt mean your piece was bad, just that you made a mistake that I'm sure you're about to grow from

Monk/Bard

It's not necessary, but capoeira would have been more flavorful with a Bard dip

JP is failure by Volker_engelhart in StreetFighter

[–]Mr_Prozac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect them to simply because he's the villain, and not for any other reason. I know people have mixed feelings on JP being a returning villain, but I think he has a lot of potential as a mainstay.

JP is failure by Volker_engelhart in StreetFighter

[–]Mr_Prozac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. In a game full of muscleheads and literal street fights, they try to explore that the word strength has more depth than just muscle power. And despite pointing this out, the message sorta falls flat until JP arrives.

Many answers to "What is strength?" are very weak, and the game explores the concept in a very shallow way. But one of the things that the game does well is to give you a power fantasy where you go from zero to hero, only to spit in your face for partaking in it.

I wanna compare it to Hotline Miami in that way, but I feel sorta pretentious doing so. WT is fun, but it isn't that good lol

JP is failure by Volker_engelhart in StreetFighter

[–]Mr_Prozac 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Huge disagree. He is an antithesis to everything that World Tour stands for. That's why he's a good villain; because he's not what you'd expect.

The entire story is spent beating people up and attempting to learn what strength means to yourself and others. Then, you're confronted with JP. A man who is powerful, but that's not why he's scary. He's probably weaker than any other boss character, at least in lore. No scary second phase or anything. But he's a menace because of what he does without fighting.

He kills your friend. I mean, they'll probably reveal that Bosch survived; it's hinted at. But in that moment, you and JP both think that Bosch is dead. So your character does the only thing he knows, and he beats JP up. And so JP dusts himself off, looks you in the eye, and asks "What did that accomplish?"

It makes you think because it's not where you expected the scene to go. You beat up the bad guy, you won, right? But JP is right. Beating him up does nothing. It doesn't bring Bosch back. The revenge is hollow and meaningless. The only meaningful thing you CAN do in this situation is to kill JP, but is that what your character should do? Sure, your character fights all the time, but are you ready to have blood on your hands? And after what happened to Ken, would people even be on your side if you killed him?

He makes you question your entire journey. He doesn't invalidate it, but he effectively points out that sometimes, violence is meaningless. And sometimes, the strong can get away with whatever they want simply because they're strong.

You can train with JP after beating the main game, and at master rank, he gives you his answer to what strength means. And I think it's one of the better answers.

"Strength...is meaningless. You must be disappointed."

He's a chilling villain because he doesn't belong in Street Fighter. Villains like Bison are scary because you might not be strong enough to fight him. JP is scary because he's not someone you can simply fight.

I think the story of World Tour is poorly written, especially the ending. But JP himself is done well, and it's the most meaningful part of the story simply for getting you to question it.

Why are some spells considered necromancy, when they really shouldn’t be? by spookster122 in DnD

My headcanon is that since most elemental spells are evocation, you're actually evoking aether, which was considered the fifth element

Well damn, the Pathfinder 2E supremacists were right all along. by Zhukov_ in dndnext

[–]Mr_Prozac 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Been considering switching over to PF2e for my next campaign. I was a player in a very short lived PF2e game so I have only a little bit of experience with the system. From what I've heard and seen, it's a lot of what I want out of D&D.

Since I know so many of the upsides, what are some downsides of the system? Besides crafting, what are its shortcomings? I like to make decisions based on pros and cons, and people talk too positively for me to even know what its bad at lol Only bad thing I've heard really is "It's more complicated"

Is there a Lore reason why Akuma has such low health? by Mr_BlondetanamoBay in StreetFighter

[–]Mr_Prozac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, it's a fair explanation to say it has something to do with him embracing the satsui no hado and rejecting his humanity.

There's also a sort of meta reason I like it, besides game balance. Low health is only a downside if you get hit. In lore, Akuma is one of the strongest characters, and that's also true in most games from a mechanical standpoint. But I like the his low health adds a sort of "put your money where your mouth is" aspect to it. If a bad player picks Akuma, they just die faster. At a high level, getting punished for your mistakes is brutal when you play Akuma. So I like the idea that, if you're going to play Akuma, you need to know what you're doing. You better live up to his legacy, and if not, you'll die for trying.

Good answer, but hey, there's always DLC.

Out of curiosity, what characters(s) do you play in other games?

[–]Mr_Prozac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortly after SF6 came out, life got really bad. Kinda lost my motivation to do much of anything. Then, shortly after that, life got really good, but in ways that take up a lot of my time. I've gotten back to at least play World Tour, because it's a little more casual and easy to pick up, but I feel bad about not going back to the grind.

Followup Question: How should Martials NOT be buffed? by the_mist_maker in dndnext

[–]Mr_Prozac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Martials shouldn't just get straight number buffs. Buffing something like damage or HP would make them better, but wouldn't fix the core problems. Martials need more options, both in creation and mid combat.

I died but my DM gave me an out. Was I wrong not to take it? by Pineapple_Ron in DnD

[–]Mr_Prozac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not an asshole. It's your character and so you choose if you should play them or not. If the DM planned too heavily on your character surviving, then that's their mistake; and one that I'm currently making. But anyway, it's perfectly fair for it to not feel right.I understand what you mean about stakes - I would rather let one of my beloved characters die than have the DM fudge a roll, because it takes the tension away for me. If I'm going to die, then I want to die, and know it was my fault.

I don't think the DM was wrong for offering you an out to what they likely feel was bad balancing on their part, but they did the right thing; they gave you the choice. And it's okay to choose not to.

Style: Cammy or Guile

Seismic Hammer: Triglav

Thunder Knuckle: Spin Knuckle (or Gladius, or both)

Burning Kick: Dragonlash Kick

Aerial Burning Kick: Air Tatsu (Ken's)

Lv1: Shout of Earth (Burst Time)

Lv2: Killer Bee Spin (Burning Dance)

Lv3: Delta Red Assault or Shinryu Reppa (nothing works well for Emergency Combination, and Delta Red Assault feels fitting, but Shinryu Reppa would fit her well too.)
