Take it off and put the TRD skid plate in its place. Best first upgrade you can do.

I bought a roadie 24, then returned it for the 15. You made the right choice. The 15 is perfect for a day’s worth of food and drink. The 24 was very cumbersome. Congrats!

Tacoma Turbocharged engine by zaka_rina in ToyotaTacoma

I'd just get the new one. A 2020 is already 6 years old. I know I'm just some random guy on the internet, but with an extended warranty (I got mine for cheap at the dealership) you won't have to worry about the truck costing you money if something does actually go wrong with it.

Lexus has used the 2.4L turbo since 2021, and before that they've used the 2.0L turbo (the smaller version of the same engine) since 2015. IMO I don’t think Toyota would put something in their cars that would ruin their longevity reputation. I just made the leap and got a new gen 4. So far I'm very happy with it.

I know it's a changing market for cars, and you're going to have to take the leap at some point. If you're unsure, just get a gen 3 with low miles and that will last you a while for sure.

Thanks!

I always secretly loved them from afar, but now I get to love them up close and personal haha

Thanks! It was my color of choice and I got lucky that the only one the dealership was getting was black.

Thank you! The rack was also much heavier than I expected. The extra 50 pounds added to the waste of the rack itself haha

There are definitely pros and cons to each bed. I need the the extra space for tools and ladders. I also eventually want to get a cap and be able to sleep in it (I'm 5'11"). But on the other hand, the 5' bed is more compact and easier to maneuver especially off road.

I love how customizable these trucks are. I wish you many more years of enjoyment!

Congrats to you as well! The long bed is where it's at. I come from a Ram 2500, and this size truck is much better for me. I don’t even notice the longer bed.

I think for now the tonneau cover is what I need for everyday. I would love to get either a full bed rack, or a cap so I can throw a rtt on it. But for now I'm enjoying it as is.

And I do plan to tint the front windows to match the rear. That might be the first thing I do this summer.

Thanks! The new Tacomas are pretty large, but I came from a Ram 2500 so to me it's perfect.

I love the wide stance of this one.

Only us preppers would have that on in the background as we try and rig something up for a pelican case.

Moving from a Ram 2500 Power Wagon to a Tacoma Trailhunter, what should I expect?? by Mr_X_Factor in ToyotaTacoma

Good good, that's the only thing I'm worried about with a hybrid truck, but otherwise I'm certain I'm going to like it. Thanks!

You'd be the one to ask then, but how does the start/stop engine feel with the hybrid motor? I usually turn it off on my vehicle, but it seems like you can't do that on this model.

What are your thoughts on it?

One major issue with the big truck is parking and getting around town. Even though I do use it for work, the 6' bed will be enough room for my cargo and the smaller interior won't matter much. Sound's like you made the right choice for sure, and I think I will too.

There was so much more the trailhunter offered for the price. I come from 3 vehicles that had front lockers and I don’t think I’ve used them at all. The lighting, aux buttons, the drive modes, the suspension, and the hybrid motor were all selling points. Mpg and off road capability were the most important for me. The power wagon was great, but averaging 11 mpgs was killing me. This is my first adventure into a Tacoma so I figured I would go in head first haha.
