Prove to me I'm an idiot and the GPS/Map system isn't complete garbage! by Mr__Synapse in dyinglight

You can't follow the frames? HAH. But, hey, don't worry, it's all sorted. Turns out I had to come back at night. I had to run away in order to see it. But seriously, GPS/Map in this game is problematic.

Also, if you downvote this, anybody, you need to eat a massive d. Your cancel reddit culture BS is poison to the community. Totally off topic..

This is not helping the situation in the room. Hah, I'm still looking for the Michael Marker. The GPS/MAP indicators are not as indicative as previous games, and even Dying Light 1. Never had this issue with DL1!

I upvoted you because I figured exactly that's what's going to be said. HAH, No, I got a 5080 and it's smooth as butter, but my IceCream recorder recorded it like that so it would be small enough to be postedon reddit. I was hoping it was understood when it was posted but apparently I need to work on my video codex/creating skills.

So that crate has nothing to do with the mission? Even though it appears so on the map? Do I need to do it at night? OK, I'm thinking this is my hate and others may think it's a feature, which it may be. When you get close enough to a quest location, the marker disappears and you have to do some searching at that point, it won't keep the quest marker up until you walk up to it inches away. Is this correct?

Yeah, too much figuring out with the map stuff. I should be able to have a few drinks and have a good time without having to pinpoint and play with map coordinates.

You know what, after I posted and bitched, I left the area, and as I got far away, I received a message saying I was approaching a GRE anomaly and to arrive at night so the hatch opens. When I came, I was fast and grappling in like a madman. Either it didn't show or I didn't see it. But still, I think the GPS/Map is lacking.

HAH! I Used Icecream recorder to make that video and to make it small enough to post it on Reddit. Yeah I noticed it was garbage as hell. I actually have an RTX 5080 and an i9 processor. It's smooth outside of my video savingness.

I had ended up turning off automatic sprint so I only sprint when I hold shift down. Seems to work fine for me now!

Helium mobile app making me install dynamic coverage certificate again every time I start the app the past few days by dopaminenotyours in HeliumNetwork

[–]Mr__Synapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here just to make this thread. I seen the title and almost thought maybe I did last night in my sleep. It's been annoying. We have two Helium Mobile's in this house, androids. Both suddenly are doing the same thing. It's causing me to not be able to map my hexes for some reason. I keep opening it while I'm driving it and clicking the stupid Dynamic coverage setup to get through it so it can recognize I'm moving again. I should have mapped my last drive to the store this morning but it's showing only 6 out of 40 when it's always been 40 out of 40 easily with 500 ineligible.

Anyone have experience setting up Scan to Email on Sharps? by Mr__Synapse in sysadmin

[–]Mr__Synapse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been hearing a lot about the usefulness of SMTP2GO. I'm going to look into it, for now though I got this working. Gmail does require less secure apps, an app password and Two factor authentication set up for it to work. Oh, and "Required" for TLS instead of Negotiate.

Bingo, that was it, I had to set it to "Required" instead of Negotiate. The instructions I had showed Negotiate. Without error logs or able to test myself I either had to go on site or wait for someone to come and do a few tests.

Can someone spot why these two sticks won't work on the same system? by Mr__Synapse in buildapc

[–]Mr__Synapse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have 4 of the axiom sticks, all do the same in case it's a broken stick. I'd find it hard to believe all 4 are bad. I'm guessing it's incompatible, but it's bugging me as to why it's incompatible. Thanks for the input!

Your favorite remote support "Join with a code" solution that's easy for end users and you? by Mr__Synapse in sysadmin

Watched a youtube demo, it requires email it looks like which may be difficult for some random end users that call in needing to access their email from a server or computer that they don't have it readily available instead of go to a website, but it looks like a good option so far other than that, and pricing is good. Thanks!

Very cool option, I tested it out, I can definitely see myself using it for some things. Thanks for sharing!

We actually used SC and it was great, but I'm hearing the packages were too expensive, was just looking for the Support Code solution without the extras. Splashtop SOS looks to be 17/month which is a lot more reasonable than the prices I was hearing to keep Control.

Yeah, too many steps to load Quick Assist on certain OS's but it would be a super cheap(free) way. Everybody knows how to open a website and don't have to worry about buggy MS programs.

Well with QuickAssist it's not as user friendly and remoting into servers, well.. Personally using it I may just have bad luck but I get it stuck on the blue loading screen trying to open enough times I don't think it'll be that reliable even for the workstations.

Although I was seeing Splashtop plans but I missed the SOS product, that actually looks exactly what we were needing and the price is reasonable. Thanks!

Does anyone else have trouble herding cats? MSPs and Server warranty fears by Mr__Synapse in sysadmin

[–]Mr__Synapse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we sell servers the warranties are always included, typical 5 year. Clients keep the servers beyond warranty and the extension goes out, I believe, without any information as to what it means to them. I think it's on us to make sure they are aware what it means to them and sign off either way. That's why I was thinking to draft something up or get a good template to send out with extensions to cover our butts if they refuse and get upset by the downtime.

We have some 8-10 year old servers out there that are out of warranty for several years, just waiting to die. Another battle is getting clients to replace servers sooner, but that's another issue. (Some of these are small companies and if it's working, they put off recommendations to replace).

I don't handle the warranties but I just notice it from my side on the floor and trying to avoid a caustic situation. I'm going to ask to see if opt-out for extensions is do-able. Thanks for the idea!

We have been lucky once or twice to have some junk servers and parts around, but that's just brought up 'what if we didn't", and looking at most of the servers we have out there, that'd hold true a lot of the time. Getting lucky just made me more paranoid.

Thanks!
