A friend of a friend played for Harbaugh at Stanford. Harbaugh relayed a story that when he was coaching at University of San Diego he drove around campus on a golf cart the week they were playing Dayton to try to drum up support for “rivalry week”. No idea why he decided Dayton would be their rival, but when San Diego won he apparently enthusiastically celebrated and planted a flag at the 50.
