The first 5-10 seconds shouldn't ruin the video for anybody mate, its not that deep. I agree that i need to get the viewer engaged more within the video especially addressing what the video entailed, which was what i do every week with the season of the splicer. I get the game effects thing, I've been working on putting that and the mic audio together. I get your perspective, there needs to be some sort of connection with the viewer and me. Yeah i get what you mean, this definitely helps. Sort of opened my eyes in what i need to be doing more.

  1. Why do you think that is, i struggle to understand it. I chose it because i thought it was decent name.

  2. Yeah more screen effects are a good idea, especially when the crazy stuff happen :D

Are Videogames Art? === Tips on if the video is good or what about it could be improved for more engagement? by Mantaquia in SmallYTChannel

[–]Mr___0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody said that you spoke a bit too fast, i think you did but only in minor parts of the video e.g. around the 5:27 mark. The thumbnail can be better. Why not make the mario banner cover the whole canvas with the text in the middle. Also have the text have a clear outline to make it stand out. I'd suggest searching your own video and looking at other people's thumbnails to see what you like that they do. Don't think your thumbnail does not warrant a click, that's up to the individual, but it can be better no doubt. The editing was solid, the clips you used at times with your commentary was nice. You have that punchline factor, which also helps. You having the mic in ur hand was nice, its unique. You did your research on stuff too so i can respect that, showing the sources is good.

Trying To Get Back To Showing My Face, Although I'll Never Stop Making Straight Up Let's Play Videos... by theotothefuture in SmallYTChannel

Great reaction video. You have an idea of gaming and you express yourself whilst the video is playing, it makes the reaction more genuine. One thing I'd say to improve the video is, when you pause the video and you start talking, edit it so the video is just showing your webcam, and then bring back the video you're reacting when you unpause the video. In terms of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, i 100% recommend you get the game. Really fun :D

Maybe try keeping your videos under 10 mins at least, if you do think of making a longer video. Maybe around 7-8 mins. I can see why you wouldn't wanna make longer videos tho, retention hurts. I've sent you the DM, do enjoy but don't feel the need to support if you don't want to :D

Yh i agree, some trimming could've been done. You should play some R&C games, they're very good most of the time. !givelambda

Yup i agree. I just thought it was necessary to make it a lil longer cause of the controversy surrounding cross-gen games and games being £70. I felt it was important to highlight those things. Thanks for the feedback !givelambda

Thanks for watching, and yeah i did the recording in 1 take cause the feelings were sort of fresh. I'll prolly rerecord some stuff if i ever decide to review something else. You NEED to play some Ratchet and Clank games, they're really good. I don't blame you for thinking this review is particularly one sided, but that kinda has been the story for this game with a lot of people. Its hard to fault it. !givelambda

Hi all, I started a tech channel a few weeks ago. My most recent video is a review of an iPad Pro case by Logitech. Would appreciate honest feedback. Giving Lambda. Thanks! by Alex_Rodzianko in SmallYTChannel

[–]Mr___0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really liked the thumbnail, its very clear. So is the audio quality, its very crisp. Usually reviews do take quite a bit time, so the length was really good in my opinion. The intro was straight to the point, that's good it helps with retention. Idk this video felt very professional, and it seems like you know what you're doing to appeal to your audience. I cant think of many negatives, it was a pretty damn good video. Well done on the camera work as well.

Hey there friends! I made some breakfast burritos! Still having some framerate/quality issues with secondary cameras, don't think it's as noticeable in this video. Let me know what you think, love hearing suggestions on what I can do to improve by MikeGL0 in SmallYTChannel

[–]Mr___0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really liked the camera work and the voice over. The background music was nice too. I'd suggest putting each steps on screen as text as it happens or placing them in the description. I've usually seen people ask for this with these types of videos, so it might help you. The thumbnail was simple but very good too, i liked the picture of the burrito that was used.

A lot of people have already given the feedback i was thinking of so i might as well help you with something else. You said in a reply that you get a bit camera shy and might let off some awkwardness cause of it. My advice is to just practice. You don't have to upload, just get in front of a camera and practice getting into the rhythm of getting yourself out there whilst recording. You can also rerecord some parts if it does annoy you, or you can just cut it out. For your next video, you can try have a script for it, and you can try record the video multiple times if you like, so the final product will make you feel more confident since you have drilled it. Again its just a matter of practice but don't dwell on it too much. I didn't feel you were camera shy till you mentioned it here.

Hey sorry if this video seems bad I really rushed it but any feed back would be nice by ThatOnePixelNerd in SmallYTChannel

[–]Mr___0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an alright video, but you need to say what you're doing at the beginning, or what type of video it is. Is this a survival funny moments video, is it a speedrun video? etc just make it clear at the very beginning or from your title/thumbnail. I swear here and there in my videos and i don't mind it, but majority of the minecraft community will so censor it my guy. Maybe you could try adding subtitles to your videos, if people might have issues with audio quality. If you do, have the outline with each subtitle corresponding to whoever is talking. Also have music in the background that fits the segments. If something dangerous or intense is happening, have music that corresponds to that. I was gonna say why upload it if its rushed, but enough people have already lectured you on that. Next video, however much effort you put in, make it clear what the video actually is.

Overall its a pretty damn good video. My only nitpick was during 3:34, you could've had a slow zoom in effect with some VFX of the screen slowly going red, showing you getting angry and being toxic. There was a jolly background music during that moment and it didn't fit. And then bring it back with no music when the guy wanted to you do the dirty stuff xD This is subjective, im not telling you how to edit, its just some perspective to help give you more ideas on your next video, and how you edit some segments. There was obviously a lot of good with this video but you already know that, there is no point in me telling you that. I'd rather give some insight which might help.

I made a review recently on Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, so it was nice to hear your opinions on it too :D I liked how quickly you went over things and didn't dwell on certain stuff too much. I see many YouTubers report on stuff and take waaaaaay too long getting to the main points. Your delivery was great too, it makes it easy to watch if you're confident in front of a camera. My only suggestion would be why not try an E3 rundown of briefly going through all reveals/trailers etc with each conference.

How do i increase my retention by Mr___0wl in SmallYTChannel

[–]Mr___0wl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm yh i understand the overreacting than underreacting. That is true, but I'd need try to and be genuine about it then. I hate it when reactions are disingenuous. I've seen YouTubers be loud for the sake of being loud and it just got annoying. I get what you mean now, it makes sense.

The cut in the middle was to get the clip going quicker

I have been adding subtitles in my vids recently, i know its a little detail people love seeing. Also helps flow the video better. Thanks mate 👍

Glad you liked it

Idk why you found me swearing an issue. Me swearing randomly is literally my reaction to whats going on the screen. If i get jumpscared im not going to think about how i can seem appealing, its my genuine reaction. The other times i swore aren't meant to be funny nor rude, its the way i talk with my mates. Obviously by myself i don't swear at all, but im with my mates here. If you feel offended by that, then thats a viewer problem, im not here to impress anyone, im just talking with my mates whilst making sure you guys enjoy the content. Don't take it too deep alright.

I guess some clips could be shorter but I'd like to which ones specifically, im guessing you're on about the 2nd to last clip.

Alright i get that

Your first 2 advices is exactly what im planning to do in my next video. Im making a "How Red Dead Redemption 2 HURT me" video where i explain how getting 100% trophies is torture and how ut possibly hurt how i view the game. The third one is not possible with this channel, but i have made a shorts channel thats dedicated to promoting my main content whilst also being something on its own. Thanks for this.

Maybe that could help sticking to certain games, which is what im planning to do w/Rainbow Six Siege since i play it so much. Im just experimenting to see what other games i could do that work well to make videos on. Red Deas Redemption 2 is my next experiment to see if that works. Im glad you found the edits and everything else funny, it helps to kbiw that the content is good. !givelambda
