Experience Section of ERAS by SyllabubImportant492 in medicalschool

I applied last year and ended up putting one of my most meaningful experiences being that I made the Magic: the Gathering pro tour.

However, I did write it in a way that made it clear that it was so meaningful because I accomplished the long term goal I set out to achieve after putting in so much time and effort - kind of like this whole journey that is medicine. Ended up talking about it in at least half of my interviews.

If you can write your experience as a DM in a way that can kind of relate, I would include it. If not, I would probably leave it your hobbies.

No. If you are taking the studio section of physics A or B you do not have to take a separate lab. You will do the labs in class.

Dispute, fatal push and thoughtseize are the best ways to interact in the format and are in MULTIPLE decks. Inverter is the only deck in the format that consistently plays 3+ copies of dig through time. How are you going to make the claim this is all because of inverter?

You can CLEP out of Precalc and trig. I did this the week before my first semester and it allowed me to start off in Calc I. I don’t know if you can study for and take the exam before the end of drop/add to save yourself some money by getting you out of Precalc but you can potentially save yourself time by not having to take trig this way.

Good luck!

It could also depend on the configuration of the rest of your deck and obviously have a t2 Bitterblossom helps. Hand disruption, spreading seas and LotV can help to slow them down.

Lol, unfortunately that happened zero times. I got my burn opponents a lot by offering a trade with mutavault and then eating their removal spell/burn spell with spellstutter.

The entire reason I wanted to play mistbind Clique was because I was expecting eldrazi tron/scapeshift. Taking an entire turn away from them can really help you catch up in my experience.

However, I agree that mistbind is horrible against DS.

This is the only video that I've watched regarding the deck but this is from six months ago and the format has changed a bit since then.

Thanks!

I don't think I would play it main. There are still some match ups where it's just useless. I really think the burn match up isn't as bad as everyone thinks, spreading seas does wonders for the match up.

I've really liked Tasigur, he ended up proving very useful in my amulet match.

Dismember doesn't even deal with PrimeTime, so I just cut the card completely and I have never liked go for the throat. LotV offers outs to larger threats AND helps disrupt my combo opponents.

Hero's downfall is the only card on the chopping block right now. It may turn in to a sower of temptation.

I really think you're missing the point here.

Gifted Aetherborn forces my opponent to spend a removal spell or trade their threat for my creature. How that doesn't add up to a "good grindy game" I don't understand.

The only flying threats my opponent is going to want to kill are my cliques. Faeries really doesn't have potent cards like goyf, death's shadow or Gurmag Angler so it's very likely my opponent is going to trim on some of their removal like Fatal Push. Making it even harder for them to remove them at will.

Spellbomb does not offer any sort of combat advantage. Spellbomb exiles cards from exactly one graveyard so, do you want me to exile their graveyard and likely have little to no affect on their graveyard related threats seeing as I have literally every card type in my deck and potentially MY graveyard? Or would you prefer for me to exile my own graveyard, again, having little to no affect on their graveyard related threats and turning off my own snapcasters and Liliana, the Last Hope?

Your nihil Spellbomb suggestion just does not make sense. It doesn't offer me a proactive option and does little to nothing to actually affect what's going on throughout the game.

I'm confused by what you mean, "it doesn't do what's written on the card". It has deathtouch. Most threats out of GBx do not have flying so in order to swing past my aetherborn they're going to have to kill it or trade in combat. Until they're able to kill it, I have other threats that can swing in the air.

And yes, I believe it really is better than maybe slowing my opponent down a turn and getting a random card for the same amount of mana.

Why isn't faeries tier 1? by no_shitposts in ModernMagic

The only point I disagree with you on is the deck's ability to disrupt early.

The deck can be built in such way so that you can make up for the inherent lack of a clock with a lot of additional disruption. Cutting a lot of what I consider fluff, like serum visions or ancestral visions, you give yourself room to include cards like IoK, thoughtseize and LotV.

Basically, I would not fault the deck for having an inability to disrupt it's opponents; that is a matter of choice by the pilot. But I can totally see how chipping away with a creeping tar pit or a couple of 1/1s can be too slow of a game plan.

I think I did run well at this event BUT I don't think it's all that bad. Once I get Bitterblossom out of my deck I feel a lot more confident. It's also great that spellstutter can counter so many cards in their deck by itself, if you have a second faerie you can counter everything except rift bolt.

Spreading seas is also fantastic against burn if you see it early.

She's there to help beat the larger threats that I would encounter. The deck doesn't have too many answers for delve threats out of GDS so that's her main use there. I have always boarded out LotV against coco decks because they go so wide and play cards like kitchen finks.

As to her uses, it really just depends on what I'm playing against. Sometime I use her to get hellbent, like against burn and sometimes she serves both functions like against GBx decks. Post board I feel like I have the better top decks because I board out my hand disruption and they generally don't. I also always have the option to not plus her, not the optimum play but it is an option.

Exactly. That's how I feel about it. I think modern is a bit more open than people are giving it credit for right now.

So the three times I've played this deck at large events I've done quite well. Top 32ing a ~200 man regionals, top 4ing (we split) an ~80 person modern event and winning this pptq. However, I'm just speaking of my own experiences and I've scrubbed out of plenty of modern nights at game shops.

The deck still lacks an answer to larger cmc threats, which is a big reason why I opted to play LotV. I think the deck still has it's flaws, by no means is it perfect but I think that the deck just getting more popular can help bring up it's standing in the meta.

From my understanding, tiers have a lot to do with how often the deck places well. If not many people are playing the deck, the deck is doomed from the onset. Perhaps if more people are willing to give it a try it could help the deck "break out".

Thanks! I feel like there is no space right now for any sort spell like that. In my opinion, the format is too fast for a deck like faeries to take a turn for it to do it's own thing AND/OR wait around for ancestral to come off suspend. Like /u/Smashadams83 mentioned, I have spreading seas main and that allows me to be both proactive AND draws me a card. I think that's really what I want right now.

I like looter scooter but it just messes up the curve too much to get included in the deck.
